I have seen it a few times and have not developed a goose step yet. I would be a little concerned about someone choosing to watch it frequently, but that would be true of a lot of war movies.
I suspect anti terror police have found "Zulu" in the DVD collection of far right nutters more than once, so they start to see it as a hallmark of far right sympathies. I can see it being in Nick Griffin's collection.

First casualty if i remember is a Zulu killed by his own side for groping De wits daughter.
His mission was actually to grope her gay brother, resulting in Caine's immortal line: "You were only supposed to blow the bloody Boers off!"

The war itself was deliberately started by the Governor of the cape, as a land grab. Not dissimilar to the Austrian-Hungary ultimatum prior to WW1, its conditions were designed to be unacceptable to excuse the invasion.

Before the woke brigade get stuck into our colonialism, it’s worth remembering the Zulus built their own empire prior to the British dismantling it by committing genocides against numerous other peoples. The problem with that though is it was a black empire. And that upsets the narrative of the woke brigade ie only white European empires existed, and everything to do with is inherently evil. Myself, I see empires as a natural human entity. They’ve existed since dawn of time. They rise. They fall. Repeat until the end of time. The human condition is to control, influence, posses ie build our own empires in the short time we’re here. Gives us a purpose, the meaning of life.

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
Always reminds me of that match against Burnley when we were down to 9 men.

OK, it's the Daily Mail - I've read the linked article; I will go and stick needles in my eyes to prevent me ever reading it again - is that OK with everybody? Yes? - right, well even even if the article's only half true, and slanted at 30 degrees to the right, it's still pretty horrendous. The Government's 'Prevent' (as in prevent terrorism) initiative is accused by the Shawcross report to be prioritising right wing terrorism of over Islamic terrorism ..... although no doubt hotly denied ............ but the things Prevent has listed as being extreme right wing, or at least a reading list for would-be right wing extremists, is ridiculous - films like Zulu and the Dambusters, books/fims like Sharpe, the works of Shakespeare. the works of Chaucer, Lord of the Rings and Yes Minister. Damn it! - I've read/watched just about all of those (only not all the works of Shakespeare, and no more of Chaucer's works than I had to do to get a GCE!) so have I been radicalised?

I think not!

(Daily Mail? yes, yes, you detest it; spit; spit - but read the article first before posturing, eh?)

When I lived in SA I had that conversation many times with local africans spinning the "Europeans stole our land" narrative (not that they are wrong in general terms). The Dutch arrived in the Cape before the Zulus moved south from what is now Mozambique at the start of the 19th century and built their empire by slaughtering an estimated 500 000 members of tribes that were then assimilated into the Zulu empire or fled west towards what is now Namibia. The usual response as to why they want land and compensation from the Europeans but not from the Zulus is "they are also Africans, so it's OK that they did it".
