I think this kid has something about him - the ball falls to him and he gets into the game so quickly, there's a real skill and intelligence in that and he reads the game so well. I think he's going to be very difficult to keep hold of in a few years and I really like that his development isn't on loan in the Netherlands, Belgium or France. I like that he's getting a few minutes off the bench here and there and I suspect he'll get his chance against Grimsby in the FA Cup. He's got a big future ahead of him and hopefully we'll get to see it first hand for the next 4/5 years.

I really think a season on loan next season is the best for him next. Clearly an incredible, raw talent, but I think playing week in week out, learning the discipline he'll need to really be effective for us is absolutely what he needs. Obviously he's learning a lot in training but nothing will replicate match practice. In a way he needs a few bollockings, Lallana has already hinted at that, and he'll certainly learn if some gnarly older pros demand more from his decision making in a game environment consistently. Assuming Adringa gets a work permit (maybe he already has?) he seems much more useful off the bench or in reserve next season.
As exciting as he was against a floored and flawed West Ham, he was way off just the week before at Stoke.

Agree, think he'll be off on loan. He's getting some game time now but if the club brings in a replacement for Trossard, swaps Undav for a more competitive second/third CF, Enciso will struggle to get enough game time. A year on loan in a good club/league (preferably one of the top 5 leagues) would probably be great for him.

Personally, I don’t think a loan is appropriate in his case. He is almost there, and just needs to improve his decision making. When watching him playing for the U21s the other week, he was head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch. As I said to my mate at the time ‘he’s there to learn when to pass to team mate, rather than try to do it all himself’.
I don’t get why so many NSchatters are negative about loans. It was the same with Connolly a few years ago. It’s not a failure or sleight on a player’s talent, it’s a positive development step.
Enciso would need to reach Mitoma level pretty quickly to justify not going on loan from Brighton. Is that likely? Well, he does produce the occasional piece of quality but the consistency and team awareness are weaker than his team mates.
Six months at Union should do it. That didn’t work out too badly for Mitoma.

I’m not against loans at all, but like some other posters I feel that Enciso is already easily skilful enough to be in the first team, it is just his decision-making that needs to improve. I don’t see why we’d trust a different coaching team with less interest in Enciso’s long-term progression over our own.
Edit: forgot to add, it’s not just his decision-making, he needs to work on the physical side a bit too, but we have those facilities, I’m still not seeing the need for a loan in his case.

I’m not against loans and feel they fall into several categories. 1. For those on the way out (eg Connolly, Andone, Duffy) 2. Youngsters needing experience of senior football (all our Development squad) 3. Foreigners awaiting work permit or needing to adapt to English/European style football (Mitoma, Koslowski etc). I don’t think Enciso now falls into any of these. He is already an integral part of our squad, is a full International, and can hold his own in PL games. This is why I think a loan is not appropriate for him. I might be proved wrong by the club, but at the moment I think it’s unlikely.

If loaning, I would go for an English club. A top championship club like Norwich or someone.
But RDZ seems to have confidence in him. Its far from certain he'll be loaned out. But fair point that Adringa seems to be in a strong position to be incorporated into the first team squad and who knows who we'll sign, so as usual competition will be strong

I think he offers something the others don't which is he knows how to shoot on sight. very unlucky against WHUFC as keeper pulled off a very good save. Some comments are about his lack of speed, not sure how going on loan will improve that. I think a lot will depend on where we end up and its possible we might want to keep a lot of 'first team players' around. I think it would be best to come back to this thread at the end of the season. Note it was this time last year (nearly) when Caicedo came back from a bad loan and has been a revelation.

IMO, 6 months in the gym would be better than a loan. Mac said how important that was for him when he came to Brighton. This lad has the inbred technique and eye to be an outstanding player, but he lacks physicality; I was worried we would get a strong gust of wind on Saturday, Compare him to Ferguson who is only a year or so older- yes, I know different style of player but anyone has to be able to put it about a bit in PL.

I get the impression that if RDZ really likes a player he wants to keep him with the squad so that he can improve him and hasten his development

But Mitoma and Adringa (and others) went straight out on loan. Enciso is getting game time here so by the end of the season he might have enough on the clock to say fukk that.

He's already bulked up a bit and I think it's hindering him as he hasn't adapted his running style for being a bit bigger.
He was quite a bit faster when he first arrived but has slowed down a bit as he bulked up. Needs to work on his running style a lot.
