The future of one of the world’s most renowned stadiums is in doubt despite the mayor of London’s plans for a “comprehensive renovation” of the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre."

Must have run out of cladding..

It's about the athletics track and sports centre on the site of the old Crystal Palace that burnt down in 1936 (a certain pattern for things in that area burning down)

The pool is an amazing structure. Didn't realise it was in a state of disrepair and shut.

Seems completely unrelated to Stad de Clad, though the reports of rats and bird droppings everywhere did make me think twice.
Erm, I think you will find it is very much related. If you study history closely enough you will find that the stadium was named after the football team on the quincentenary of their foundation (they were founded back in 1464). Not as is commonly thought after the venue of the Great Exhibition from 1851 (which itself was named after the ancient football club).

who cares, whatever going on in scum land has no interest to me
Quite a few people will care, as firstly it has nothing to do with the football club of the same name and secondly it could signify the end of another venue that is used for quite a lot of grassroot/school competitions for people across the South East of England.

I did a few events at the athletics stadium there in my teens and it was quite exciting to know I was running on the same track as world class athletes had done a few days/weeks before. It would be a shame if those kind of opportunities were not around for kids anymore.

I think he meant the venue for the great exhibition was 'the Crystal Palace' building, rather than the exact location. Not sure about the birth of CPFC, thought there have been cave paintings found of people playing in their colours!

In the building that was then moved to part of the site that now makes up the Crystal Palace sports centre.
