I met Campbell well after his involvement in the Indian in Nutley.

I remember singing Build a Bonfire week after week and getting so angry at what he had done to us. He will always be the ultimate Bogeyman for the Club (a betrayal that makes the current anti-Potter stuff seem laughable), and annoyed that he is so wealthy that even paying such a large fine ain't going to bother him that much.
I don't think we should forget what he did, not least because it has defined the narrative of what the club has become over the past 25 years.
But, I actually think we as a club have moved on, and I mean that in a positive way. We are dreaming of Europe for God's sake, with a manager and a team who are fighting for everything (in a very different way to Steve Gritt and the boys 25 years ago). And that to me is much more important than worrying about what a sad old man is doing, trying to fiddle his taxes.

Believe me, this tax case will really hurt him.

These people are arrogant control freaks, they must ‘win’ every battle, it becomes personal against the adversary, here HMRC officers. Greed also, being worth £100m’s wouldn’t stop him being hellbent in not handing over to the public purse.

That was never going to happen. We were always going to have to move from the Goldstone at some point. It's not that I have the problem with, it's the nearly going bust and spending 2 years at Gillingham and 12 years at an Athletics track. Although admittedly they were actually good times when you look back on them.

I often think about, and I know it was impossible, but imagine if they had managed to build the Amex on the Brighton station site. It would be the best ground, and definitely the best away day, in the country.

It would have been an interesting ground for sure, imagine if it was at the cement works, be a nightmare to get to.

You have a point but I'm not sure you quite read the room. I never think about him either. It isn't about letting go. It is simply amusing to see him suffering, and perfectly reasonable to post a thread on it. I never think about Gary Glitter or Boris Johnson, but I will certainly do a little shimmy when they get their come-uppance. You'd need to have a heart of stone to not laugh at that.

It's not a question of 'letting go'. Archer is rightly loathed by us because of what he did to our club, but on a wider level he is just one example of the loathsome, callous self seeking at the heart of this economic system - the country is ruled by people who would thoroughly approve of what he did to BHAFC. They would see the £56.25p 'purchase' of our club as the actions of a 'red blooded businessman' out to 'provide for his family'. The whole edifice has to go.

While it's still the case, in Britain all that extra money will buy you a few weeks, maybe a couple of months at the end of your life to consider what reputation you will leave and what memories people will have about you once you've gone. You can’t expect all to remain the same by changing one part. There is a strong argument that a move was inevitable, regardless of ownership. There used to be constant talk of a move to Waterhall. Hillsborough accelerated the process. I loved the Goldstone as much as anybody and if people want to cling on to their anger that’s nothing to do with me. I’m just saying that I’m not angry about it and I’m fine with that.

Archer and his accomplices were never interested in moving the club, they wanted to kill it, I don’t believe for a second that they had any intention whatsoever, in the club getting a new stadium funded by the sale of the Goldstone site. The money from the sale was only ever going into the pockets of those 3 crooks. Thankfully, their ultimate aim was thwarted.

Their greed was obscene then, and Archers tax dodging is obscene now.
