I don’t know if this helps or not:

I'm not sure it does tbh. In this instance it states man utd were the only interested party.

I may have missed something but I can't see why there couldn't a scenerio where a number of clubs meet the release clause and another comes in with a higher offer.

That is the former Porto/ Wolves/ PSG midfielder Vitinha (Vitor Machado Ferreira).

The one supposedly on our radar is the Braga Vitinha (a striker): Vitor Manuel Carvalho Oliveira.

Both Portuguese, both aged 22.

Can you imagine a forward line of

Mitouma Connolly Vitinha Ferguson Welbeck Undav and March

No, neither can I really. A bit too top heavy I suppose?

That would make one hell of a 5-a-side squad!

Wouldn’t even need a goalie!

Someone else could come in with a higher bid also meeting the buy out clause I guess? ???
There’s no incentive for anyone to offer a penny more than a buyout clause.

The selling club is duty bound to accept - it comes down to which club the player wishes to join if mutuale bids have been received.

If it’s like Spain (and this happened with us and Cucu I believe), the player simply deposits the fee with the club and he is free from his contract. The €30m Vitinha will pay would have been deposited into his account by Uncle Tone to pass on once the lad has signed for us. The selling club can’t stop this process. Braga simply can’t ask for more, it’s all up to the player (and his agents) once the buy-out has been triggered.

Ok that explains it. Just seems a little odd to me.

There is a private jet that departed Braga earlier headed for UK, currently over the south coast. Could be heading to Biggin Hill

EDIT: nevermind flew straight over London. Unless he sky dived from 40,000 feet

2nd EDIT: Biggin Hill closed at 11, flight landed at Luton. Could be Vitinha...
Could also be Enzo Fernandez on his way to Chelsea, or some club official on their way back from sorting that deal.

For those asking I believe the 30M would have to be paid instantly to trigger the clause. There’s nothing to stop a buying club saying we’d rather not do that but we’ll give you 15M now and 17M over the next 24 months if it suits the buyer better. Perhaps because they’re getting money incoming from instalments themselves over next 24 months from sales of a CB/RB, a DM, a LWB and a grouchy forward player. If the selling club agree that extra long term money is beneficial to them then fine it’s a sale, whether officially for the clause or not. Maybe a club are happy to have some extra money long term from club B, than the clause meeting offer from club A. Can’t reject A but can additionally accept B and leave it to the player. Other clubs may prefer less but all upfront and can reject or negotiate with B, but have no option to reject A as it meets the clause. Every business is different.

On the player, seems about right price. Not insane money compared to most Prem clubs but young, semi-proven and thus better for us right now than our typical 4M signings. Maybe in 18 months when we sell this guy to Spurs, Buonotte (spelling) will have cemented his place like Mitoma did compared to this ready now Trossard type signing.

He was at a ceremony for his club tonight so doubt he was on any plane.
