The club want to manage the amount of chat about him going, and make it clear that he's not for sale, so it looks like they've decided to give Naylor some information on this occasion. That doesn't mean that Naylor's had inside information every single time he posts about possible Brighton transfers. And Naylor is paid to write about Brighton, so when he isn't fed info from the club, he makes stuff up, like most other journalists.

The fact that fans aren't shouting 'Naylor knows nothing' is because this time it looks like he has been told something, which is evidence that when he is criticised it's not just because it's him, it's because his posts sometimes lack credibility.
Uh huh...

These tweets are so depressing. So many people setting themselves up with 'inside knowledge' and access to Adobe photoshop...

MacAllister - Caicedo - Mitoma

Looks like we have a few more months to enjoy watching these world class players in the stripes

In 20 years time we will reminisce about the year these three lined up for our club.

Truly the best of times. And, as we all know, they don't last forever.

The excellent Rory Smith made a very similar point on the 5Live Monday Night Club a few months back. I'm guessing it was sometime around the beginning of the season when Potter was still with us.

In essence, he said the "big clubs" were happy to let the "small clubs" do the scouting, recruiting and polishing and then pay them handsomely for their efforts once a player was PL-proven.

Like it or not, that is largely how it is, isn't it?
But with two recent changes to that established order:

Some clubs, notably us and Portuguese clubs, are now very switched on and single minded in seeking top dollar. To me, the uplift in fees being paid to our appears far more than general football inflation. Danny Levy stood out in the past for raiding clubs, then whoever the Spurs coach was, the new players were soon worth far more.

In addition tapping-up clubs these days don’t always getting the player when they want, if at all.

Gallagher would say goodbye to winning anything, ever.

Everton won’t beat mega spending Mancs x 2, Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal to trophies.

He can’t be forced to leave.

Why would he want to join Everton?
Stepping stone. Go there. Play every week for 18 months then go to big gun if he is good enough. Newcastle more likely though I think.
