Who do you think cares about his reputation?

The player?
A club signing him?
The agent?
Well, the player should because it could be an uncomfortable and damaging time if he ends up staying. Not likely anyone will turn on him, but possible.

The agent should because a good one will protect his client’s interest over the long term, not just seek a rapid payday.

Arsenal, probably not, as they’re in very likely in cahoots anyway. But they might regret it if opening the door means more interest from other clubs that Albioj may now prefer to deal with.

I suppose we’ll know how good they are if he moves to Arsenal in this transfer window. Otherwise, they’ve failed. Any idiot could make this guy a fortune in the summer when there’d be a queue of clubs after him, especially if he’s got a top 6 finish on his CV.

The narrative from loss of oppo fans is insane.

“You only paid 5 million so not accepting 60 million is ridiculous”

That would be like a record expert going to a market stall and finding the first release of a Beatles album and buying it for five quid and then a collector of Beatles memorabilia demanding they sell it for 60 quid. Just because you buy something cheap doesn’t mean it isn’t worth more to someone else!

Plus his relatively low wages mean he is worth even more to us because a replacement might want higher wages.

I'm guessing that Moises won't down tools and go on a full on strop if valuation isn't met and he stays until end of season. Only 21 and still learning so maybe his advisers more at fault rather than, himself? Whether he knuckles down and gets on with it until the summer or throws a hissy fit remains to be seen. 1 things for sure is Brighton are bigger than any player and the club will do what's right for them as appears this morning. We'll never stop the big boys trying to cherry pick our talent but we won't just buckle to a player demanding a move(or their agents) just because they think they can! I'll support and sing the Moises song while he's still with us(providing he's still with us)all the time Roberto sees fit to pick him if he's showing he's committed till the end of the season.
This, absolutely. Which of us was a fully-formed decision-maker aged 21? The boy's head must be all over the place at the moment. A few short months of stability will only be to his and our benefit. I'm sure the club will factor in his age and circumstances and cut him a little bit of slack. Hope so anyway

Sydney .
I would play him tomorrow - that's a clear a statement as you can have , your staying and improves our chances to get to the next round. A good game from him will add money and sharpen appetites from bidders. If he can't do it tomorrow then chances are he won't do it against Bournemouth etc.....

what does that mean, i don't do betting...
He's gone from a 15% chance of staying to a 59% chance of staying.

100%. The only clubs this really benefit is the top clubs with money to spend. Either that or change the rules so you can’t buy a player from another team in the same division, as it then becomes an unfair competition. For example Palace could potentially play us twice without Caicedo.
The reason I like this idea, is that any player thinking about a move will need to be confident in his own ability to be part of a first team squad and not be a peripheral figure as you couldn't then move on until the next season. It might stop Chelsea and the likes signing so many players if they knew that if they weren't first choice picks, they'd be stuck until the end of the season before being able to move to get more regular first team action.

All fine but he doesn’t actually hold any of the cards. He can want what he likes but he is under contract. This is not comparable to you or I getting a better job offer because we do not get given contracts of several years duration. Well, I don’t anyway.
The card he holds is quite a powerful one.
Sod about like Trossard, and unsettle a number of others in the squad
Hopefully he isn’t like that and will be strong enough not to do that.
But he can if he wants

The most ridiculous thing being is that they could have bought him when we did for the same fee we paid - BUT THEY DIDN'T DID THEY.

The player won't care, even if he stays for 6 months how much of an impact will it have on him? The players won't turn on him as I imagine most of them understand the positions his in, the manager will be pissed but will play him and he will be in front of fans 20 or so times, who at worst will be indifferent to him.

Taking the Brighton Bias out of it, what is better for his long term future? Being on 3k a week on 60k a week in a career that is short?

Brighton will sell to the highest bidder, if other clubs were interested they would bid anyway his actions won't change that.

Will they have failed? They have made it know he wants to go publicly, if your point about other clubs now being interested stands, he's just been able to ask for more money in wages.

I’d probs choose Arsenal but then think bugger, I have a contract elsewhere. It’s not like this scenario of “missing out” is unique to football, or even employment for that matter. Many other people experience life like this.
I sort of know what you mean, but it doesn’t often happen when there is life changing money on the table

Like Ali Mac seems to have
Indeed Ali Mac is currently looking like the class act with a degree of integrity and respect for the club that has advanced his career. Having had a stunning world cup it would have been very easy for him to come back and start agitating. And whilst we should be resigned to losing him in the summer it appears that he's putting his head down and hoping to give us one of our highest league finishes.

It's a frustrating situation for us as fans and as much as we hate the fact the agent is stoking this up, it is his job to get the best financial reward for his client. MC is only 21 but let's not forget that he has seen a team mate have to retire unexpectedly this season. If I was MC, I'd probably be doing the same. If I could triple my wages by going to Arsenal, I'd go, who wouldn't. He's one serious injury from having no career.

This thread is a really interesting read.

Fascinating to see what happens in the next few days.

I think arsenal have played this well. They will get him for £70m maybe even 65m with let's say 5/10m add ons. Club will spin this as good business.

Brighton just don't dig their heels in with kids. It's a clever statement from caciedos team. If we hold onto him now we look like slave owners, the optics are pretty terrible. Forget about the 'truth' in a situation like this for the outside world.

It's a poor black kids word against a billionaire jew owner.
What a weird thing to say.

Haven’t got time to read the numerous posts above - suffice to say the mixed messages that are coming out of the Caicedo situation is ridiculous and these fcuking agents need reigning in IMO (no doubt the Agent told MC what to write on that insta message )- now the club has kept Moises ‘away from the club for his own good’??! How does that help us in the Cup game against LIV?

For a club that doesn’t tend to do selling business in the January window and also doesn’t apparently stop players leaving if they want to, this transfer window is all looking very messy and destabilising to me.

Personally I’ve had enough, CM is a brilliant MF but if any player has publically stated they want to accept an offer from a Big 6, the sooner they fcuk off the better IMO and for the most we can get for him.

Rest assured there are already replacements in the scouting pipeline for all of our key players including Mackie, Sanchez and Mitoma so I’m not bothered tbh

The January window causes more problems than it’s worth - ditch it all together and allow teams to get through the whole season with the squad they started with and level the playing field each season.

All great in theory but it’s the law that all rule changes in football must be weighted heavily in favour of about a dozen clubs across Europe. So no chance, sadly.

What i find most annoying is plastic ****s finding it funny and thinking it’s acceptable to just unnerve players and rip squads apart, appreciate its the nature of the beast but it makes you wonder if its all really f***ing worth it? If every time we get success our squad just gets taken by those who dont like the fact we are a threat.
