He’s right though sadly. Bloom won’t let him rot while his value drops dramatically. What could have been a £30M+ deal this window now becomes £20M or so, or perhaps at least some more flexible payment terms

If a decent offer comes in, he can go.

Trossard has been brilliant for us. At the age of 28 it doesn't surprise me that he wants a move, it's probably his last chance of being wanted by UCL football teams.
I find the whole forcing a transfer thing very odd. It's not like Brighton don't consider offers and they can't make clubs bid. It seems like there is a club bidding, but the price is too low.
But releasing statements to media doesn't reflect well on the player and could affect whether other clubs want him. Why take the guy who is going to cause loads of problems?
I get that the statement is in reaction to RDZ comments - I'm not sure that the club will be particularly happy with those either as it makes a price lower.

The sensible thing to do would have been for him and the agent to go in and see RDZ and one of the senior managers and say he's looking for one last move, given he's now late 20s. We explain we don't like doing business in January. How about he gives 100% for the rest of the season, putting himself in the shop window, we'll exercise the contract option, ensuring we get a fee and then listen to any offer that matches our value in the summer.
Not hard. If Spurs or Atleti want him now they still would in the summer if he'd added another set of goals and assists.
The anti-football of both those sides suggests it'll be no fun at either compared to De Zerbi Ball so likely this is all about money again.

I think Tony knows only too well how dangerous it is to succumb to these tactics.
Far better to let him rot in the reserves and see how the land lies in the summer, than give him everything he wants now.
The issue here is Tross's expectations, not ours.

That old Belgium golden generation squad doesn’t seem a great thing to be part of. They all seem permanently miserable and off form. KDB is always miserable but he also appears to have lost his form recently. Lukaku, Hazard, Vertonghen, Courtois (brilliant keeper but odd and bitter character) - not great influences I’d say.

I have no issue with Tross going now, if the money's ok.
I suspect the issue is that the agent isn't able to convince Spurs/Atleti to come up with a decent enough offer.
Trying to force Tony to accept a lowball offer, is never going to work.

All this and I bet you he stays, he hasn’t seemed right even when he was at the World Cup he seemed very sluggish and easily frustrated.
Not one to go down the mental health route, but maybe he’s struggling with things we don’t know about, disappointing statement from the bloodsucker* aside we don’t know for sure what’s happened yet, I back RDZ stance but Tross could have things going on.

Such a shame it’s come to this for Trossard, he’s given us some truly magical moments in his time. I’ll be quite sad if its ends like this however ability on its own isn’t enough no matter how good he can be. He’s gone from one management style to a completely different one with RDZ at the same time the rise of Mitoma and emergence of Ferguson means for the first time he’s got proper competition to start every match. He’s managed to go from bagging a hat trick at Anfield in his first game under the new regime to being called out publicly for not putting in enough effort in a few short months, time will tell if he’s gone about it the right way or not.
His value drops either way. And we don’t have reserves since about 2005. The PFA will get involved if he trains alone for to long, and the club won’t want him near the U23s.

This is the approach any sensible representative would take. Given what actually happened I do wonder about the qualifications of some agents. Take Harry Kane and the mess of his contract extension and subsequent interest from Man City, this was mainly down to his agent’s bungling who’s only qualification for the job is being his brother.

We also know Trossard has these winter spells and slumps where his performances drop, maybe the training incident he used to get away with under previous management but is not being tolerated by RDZ who we know has upped the intensity of training.
As to the dirty linen points one thing RDZ has been since he joined is clear and direct with the club, media, fans and players and this is really refreshing as a fan and nobody is under any illusions about what he needs from them. He was clear and described what happened and I have no reason not to believe him and his view the players behaviour is not acceptable.
As for Trossard after all this sulking and unprofessional behaviour he may get his move but I think he is going to be in for a shock as to the calibre of club In for him and will probably end up at villa or West Ham.

The agent is getting a lot of stick but to be fair after managers interview it was a certainty that he or Trossard would make a statement. In both cases use of language may have exaggerated the situation.
Such a shame. We all know Trossard is not a player that runs himself to the ground and has received loads of stick on here because of it. However he has great talent making chances and space for himself and other players where it matters and will not be easy to replace.
