Does anyone else think we have reached a new low from incessant fawning over Messi in Argentinas matches, to " know it all " misery guts Souness, to Hartson and Dublins inane and pointless ramblings. I usually quite like Alex Scott but turning up dressed in a bright orange dress to comment on the Netherlands match and then claiming she hadn't realised it compromised her impartiality. I wonder how much the BBC and ITV have spent on, what seems like, dozens of ex-pros enjoying a jolly to the middle east to add little or nothing to the games themselves

TV football coverage would be, on the whole, far better with punditry. It would also save millions of pounds. But people love the debate/banter/insight that goes with it. And the media companies love it because their content gets repeat plays on social for days afterwards.

There are some good pundits, but majority add very little to the match experience.

I make every effort to avoid listening to pundits. They add absolutely nothing to the games. I will turn on tonights game at 6:58 and change channel at half time. It's the only sensible option.

Yes, but the pundits could do just as good (or bad) a job watching it on a big TV somewhere (Sarf Londo, Birmingham, Manchester, Travelodge Luton Airport or wherever) that doesn't involve flying out to Qatar and spending zillions on hotels and expenses.
