Lost in all of hair pulling and name calling. Putin took Crimea when Obama was POTUS, was quiet under Trump, invaded Ukraine under Biden. I think he does respect strength and didn't push his luck with Trump. World needs a strong America and right now it couldn't be weaker.
It pains me to say so, but I agree. We need to be stronger in certain areas like we used to.And that yes comes down mainly to the President. As a proud Coast Guard veteran myself, I love my country and am as patriotic as the next fella, but as I have said on here before, those in charge leave a lot to be desired. USA needs to be considered a superpower, whether people care if they are or not.

No reason for him to go in if the West wasn't corrupting Russian neighbours.
The US oligarchy and their current puppet Biden has no interest in the safety or freedom of the poor, average Ukrainians. They wanted a war because it is profitable, and they're now a part of the war because it is profitable. Being part of the Russian sphere of influence or the Western sphere of influence - the difference will be non-existent for the people in Ukraine.
The whole charade that Ukraine is a free western style liberal democracy, more EU member than not, is a sad joke. It's another quagmire where the US will be pouring endless billions of dollars into an intractable black hole for decades to come. There is no happy ending, no victory, no Russian retreat. Read up on the very essence of Russian culture. They'd sooner lose all of their money to ensure you lose yours too. Recommend a book called Red Notice. The only winners here are the MiC, favored Russian Oligarchs and China. If you're not one of these (and I doubt anyone on this board is) you are poorer and even more manipulated.

The reality in the US seems that the majority of people want some kind of long running soap opera, which is what Trump offers. A government should not be played out in the media eye and it clearly should be something populated with adults who are working on the issues that actually matter. The Biden administration has been working on the issues which actually impact lives rather than playing the media game and trying to be a social media stars.

What I like most about Biden is that he is more worried about doing the work than he is about getting the credit for doing the work. It might not be the best strategy for re-election in 2024 but it gives the Democrats running for Congress next month some actual policy achievements they can talk about and run on. The Republicans are waging a culture war for the purpose of waging a culture war and it's unpopular. Their assault on abortion rights and trying to drag the country back to the policies of the 80s isn't popular and shouldn't be. The world moves on, society changes and for them to keep wanting to live in the past is sad and detrimental to the present and the future.

I think the Democrats are trying to get better at properly painting the picture for voters how the Biden policies and the legislation passed has made things better. This thread largely shows that some people will ignore the policy achievements in favour of arguments based on emotions and character rather than a fair assessment of the work that's actually being done. One party wants to build for the future, the other wants a pointless culture war and to roll back individual (and mostly women's) rights.
We're all entitled to our opinions (not so much in the US anymore) but it would be amazing if you could actually point out and defend ANY achievements made under Biden.

He‘s not Trump and a total embarrassment to the US, even Tricky Dickie was more trustworthy than Trump …
Biden is the grey man. He doesn’t shout soundbites or other such crap. Now I know being loud equates to being strong in the US but to the rest of us that is just childish.

when you say your opinions,? You are allowed your opinions, you just get bent out of shape when others disagree with you.

You mean the Joe Biden who has been in a position of power for 40+ years and has been at the heart of many of the policies that lead to a political environment that saw someone like Trump elected?

I'd say it's all the politicians who have been in those positions of power for the longest are the biggest reason for the US issues and climate.

That ****?

At least he's overseen record numbers of illegal immigrants and homeless people. Needs a medal for that.
you're blaming biden for trump? i know you're not the full shilling, but that one really takes the biscuit

You don't think the American Rescue Plan Act, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act or the CHIPS and Science act are achievements?

Getting out of Afghanistan is an achievement, something that Trump spoke about and actually forced with his behaviour having lost the 2020 election, although the actual withdrawal wasn't brilliant. It didn't happen under Obama and it didn't happen under Trump, but it did happen under Biden. And it's largely what I mean about him being focused on the work than worrying about his own political future because he knows what matters is getting the work done. How many presidents had to oversee the catastrophe that was the Vietnam war before it was curtailed?

I'm not arguing Biden is a perfect president, I don't think such a thing exists. There will always be things that you disagree with but on the balance of everything that he's done in office so far, it's impossible to argue with a straight face that he's a worse president than Trump. It's also a much harder presidency considering how determined the Republicans are to stop anything he wants to do, whether it would benefit the country or not. The political reality during Biden's presidency makes it incredibly difficult for him to get major pieces of legislation passed - but he has achieved it and the country is better off as a result. It also has a mature adult as leader which is significant for their global standing. Never forget world leaders openly laughing at ridiculous claims Trump made in his ramblings.

Is this how low the bar is at this point? I asked before but it's been almost 3 years now, how long does he get a free pass because he's not as bad as the clown that came before him?

Also playing a blinder on Ukraine is an interesting take, with him refusing to complete a campaign promise with a minimum wage rise, throwing more kids in cages and his friends making insane profits from insider trading and cutting funding for the COVID vaccines, quite a lot of the US public are very vocal in their desire to see some of the billions being routed to Ukraine routed to the American people struggling day to day.
I'm saying why I like him.

Because he has stood up to Putin.

The rest is all domestic US stuff - not anything that bothers me or that I have a right to opine on.

Such a cop out, this board has a billion pages on Trumps appalling domestic policy (rightly so) and now its not him, you have no right to opine on it? LMAO

Out of interest, do any of our Trumpers think he actually did win the election?

Out of interest, are there any Trumpers on NSC? I don't mean people you disagree with politically, I'm talking about people who voted for Trump, are there any?

Yes, it's a cop out. A deliberate tactic to filter out.

I decided a while back not to really bother about events west of the Atlantic, south of the Mediterranean or east of the Caspian. Much less to fret over.

I really do not understand the comments in this thread. Biden has served the American people for decades, he is well versed in how government should be run and was part of the administration which turned the country around after the financial crash of 2008 and built the prosperous economy Trump inherited and has flushed down the toilet. The choice is very clear and it should be easy for all Americans to realise the options on the table in this election.
you could easily argue that covid , BLM and now Biden and his policies have hamstrung the American economy....couple that with the pharmaceutical opiate addiction problem and the fact that 10% of the population is probably certifiable for one reason or another , America is wallowing in the shit at the moment.

No they're brilliant because Joe Biden isn't named Donald Trump.

This categorically proves you don't follow Biden at all.

Doesn't do soundbites. What nonsense.

What you mean is you hardly follow him so you've never followed all the awful shit he's said.

Just to refresh your memory.

He's a corporate shill. Was bought and paid for by big Pharma.

Memos released Friday by the House Energy and Commerce Committee revealed the close links between the Obama administration and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, also known as PhRMA.

Anyone who thinks people can reach that position of power and be good are deluded.

They are all in the pockets of some mega rich conglomerates.
