Looks that way doesn’t it
So if give one to someone who gets in trouble, do I get a ten match ban?
Not worth taking the risk just to help them sell their tickets

Maybe the club could sell you an insurance policy for such risks via their trusted provider?

Propensity for aggro I accept is difficult to risk and price I accept. Maybe some old fashioned stereotyping or postcodes could be used?

Got my email offering me ST Guest tickets for the Arsenal cup game away…….can give them to anyone I want

It's weird isn't it, because it flies in the face of the club needing to know who is using each ticket. And there's no way they can make the STH responsible for the guests' actions.

That said, this is being done after everyone has had chance to buy. When a tier 1 fans buys for a tier 3 fan, for example, they're depriving others.

I would suggest not. There is a big difference between buying for a guest ticket and giving it to an idiot who subsequently acts like a moron and buying a ticket for yourself and giving that away to someone who acts like a moron. The club allow you to buy for a guest in the first instance but not in the second where you are cheating the system.

Nothing the club have said suggest you will get a 10 game ban if your guest is a prat.

Equally you can buy Man City on purchase history but not Arsenal, so tickets going as part of +4 to day trippers whilst people who have actually been to Falmer denied the chance.

No it isn't. What the club have said is that there are a number of fans who are abusing the loyalty point scheme and that is what they are trying to control. The loyalty scheme was introduced when there was excess demand for limited allocations. We have a massive allocation for the cup game and the club are legitimately allowing as many as possible to go.

There are a surprising number of people on here who think buying a ticket allows them to act as an unofficial ticket exchange and who lack empathy for those who play by the rules and wait their turn.

Agree re T1, and practically it never would, there will always be a % of T1s that can’t go (I’m in T1 but only do maybe half to two-thirds of away games for example). Think Brentford was the first time a game sold out effectively as T2 opened……….and that was undoubtedly due to T1’s holding T2 tickets in baskets before T2 opened (seems that particular loophole became much more widely known recently - I know I wasn’t aware of it until saw it mentioned on here). If that quirk is fixed, the current allocation process seems to be the least worst of various options I guess.

I agree that the current system is broadly pretty good just maybe needs a couple of tweaks and do hope that the club has sorted that issue of holding tickets.

I did have a couple of ideas myself and would value your opinion on them. Idea one was on games where there is a very limited amount of tickets keep the first tier the same but make the next tier much smaller so as to reduce the scramble and ensure that those with the most points who just missed out on top tier get the best opportunity. Idea two was to bar the first tier from buying after the first day for a few hours, again to give the second tier more chance, although that would probably require some sort of software change.

Any system though is probably going to be exploited by those who are clever/naughty enough to find loopholes. Indeed i find it amusing that some on this thread have put forward mobile ticketing as the answer as if it is unbeatable. Have they not seen the threads on here where people are openly boasting of finding ways round it. I myself heard a couple of people speaking on the way to a match with one saying to the other " my ticket is on my phone yours is on my wife's which i have in my other pocket" !

Idea two of yours makes no sense as what would be the point of doing all the northern games to get your points up to Tier One only to be denied a game in the smoke by being in a bunfight with all the other Tier one's trying to get a small amount of tickets.

No it isn't, what?

I wasn't specifically talking about this week's announcement/clampdown - just the general rule in football that clubs need to know who has each ticket. This is one of the legitimate situations - and there are others - where the club won't know.

Do anyone know what time the next level of tickets can be purchased? I am trying to by two for the Arsenal game one for me and another for my husband who has no membership or anything, but today is supposed to be with 4 guests and it says he is invalid, which is a bit harsh, he is a lovely fella.

To buy guest tickets you allocate them to the season ticket holder, as they’re the person eligible to buy.

Would you feel comfortable shelling out for trains fares only for the away club to misplace your ticket somehow, you know it’s going to happen to some poor sod.
The club should value the effort fans make to support the team away not punish them, has Barber nothing better to do than think up fan alienating schemes?
Before someone says it’s unfair West Sham you could get tickets the day before the game. Bmuff & Brentford the reduced allocation will probably be the only games which would be problematic.

Apologies, I thought you were as the thread is about the new away fan policy.

Sorry it appears you have misunderstood what i meant. Day one would be exactly the same as now i.e. all the tier ones would have the whole day to buy if they wanted. But having had that opportunity they would be temporarily frozen out for a while as day two opened thus preventing them from being able to hold tickets for their mates early doors and stopping others from getting them. Thus tier ones would not be fighting for a limited number but have the same as at the moment where we all know if you have tier one points you are guaranteed to get a ticket if you want one. Apologies if that was not clear but as i said will probably be no good as it would almost certainly require some software change

Thought the club were addressing the issue of people holding tickets in their basket in the run up to the opening to the next tier down by automatically emptying all baskets half an hour before the next window opens! Also, if you did lock out tier one when the second window opened then I assume you propose doing the same to tier 2 when tier 3 opens and so on.

I think that does need to be addressed, but by and large if you wait your turn you will get tickets for 90% of games (Brentford and Bournemouth being the exception). It is not hard at all to work your way up, friends who were in 3rd and final points brackets last season, who now are in the top bracket for most games through making big trips to Newcastle, Burnley and Cardiff in the cup etc. It’s a bit of a myth it’s a completely closed shop, because we rarely sell out before it goes to all season ticket holders. They missed out on BOU and BRE as well but it’s the way it crumbles sometimes because they do not do EVERY game. They haven’t been doing away games since league one and the championship very consistently like others so don’t have the points. I have empathy with your situation, but when you originally responded you also said you didn’t care that people who have done nothing wrong are inconvenienced by having to queue up, because you have to sit in restricted view, which showed a lack of empathy to what personally affects me. Seems an odd way for the club to treat loyal fans who travel up and down the country for doing nothing wrong. Ticket offices are a nightmare on match day, and I don’t want to take half an hour out of my day out, because some idiot has sold their away ticket to some 19 year who spends his time pushing enough booger sugar up his nose to knock out a large animal.

It’s pretty easy for people to avoid that harsh penalty. All they need to do is stop gaming the system….

Gaming the system. ‘I can’t make the match now mats, fancy my ticket? Yeah I’d love to go’ - that’s how most of these happen or ‘fancy coming with me? Don’t worry if you’ve not got enough points, we can use my mates’ - another example. Hardly gaming the system, just doing what normal folk would do. We are all going because we bloody love it, not because we want loyalty points. Ffs.

If you're in a lower tier then you don't always get the chance to "buy the tickets quicker", because they've already been snaffled up by the people in the higher tiers harvesting MORE "loyalty points" whilst not even going to the games. I've missed out on tickets because I'm not in one of the top tiers point-wise, its not reached my tier, and whilst there is an element of "oh well", at the same time its galling to think that some ratboy skiv is going in my place because he knows he can ponce a ticket off of a loyalty points harvester.

Not on really, is it.

So people like me who have legitimately earnt loyalty points are harvesters? Lol it’s just the way the loyalty scheme works. Only way to get more points is attend more games but I understand that is tough for a lot of people.
