As a business owner employing 30+ people, I have to say:

What great announcements for businesses - finally from a proper Conservative administration!

Cut in the basic rate of income tax to 19% ✅

45% higher rate of income tax abolished ✅

Reverse rise in National Insurance ✅

Cancel U.K. wide rise in corporation tax that was due to increase from 19% to 25% tick ✅ ✅ ✅

Regulation changes so pension funds can increase U.K. investments ✅

In Liz we trust

Great day for millionaires, crap day for British workers (amongst the idlest in the world)

Apologies, I didn't start the Fridat drinking thread before you'd done a bottle of gin. And a big bowl of mushroom soup!

Best of luck to you and your's but this will bite back. It's an idiotic budget.

The rich will continue to get richer , **** the rest. At least to tories are consistent.

Oh yeah I saw that. Reminds me of the disgraceful sectarian violence four or more times a season when Rangers play Celtic, after which the losers go home and beat their wives.

So perhaps given the amount of vitriol and bile spewed in that thread (none) compared to the amount in this thread and other similar ones (constant), you will consider reinstating that thread to the Main Board? Or moving this thread to the Bear Pit?

I’m sure you said earlier fascism was about controlling discourse?

We shall see. If this budget results in people's lives improving (relative to other similar economies), increased growth and a recession avoided, then these might be concluded to be great announcements.

On the other hand, if the opposite kinds of outcomes happen, then you might not see a proper Conservative administration again for a long time...

Disagree. Small employers make up two-thirds of the UK’s GDP.

The Government have done the right thing to stimulate growth.
As an employer it will help us & we will take on a further two employees.

A truly inspiring budget. In Liz we trust

I’m actually in shock at the stupidity of todays budget. It’s absurd. It’s a blatant attempt to butter up their donors. Maybe it would attract more business to this country, if we didn’t leave an economic union that made that easy. I can only see this going absolutely terribly

The Tufton Street revolution is under way, this has all been in planning for a long time

It’s the Brexit people were voting for. Whether they realised it or not.

It's no surprise that the markets and the world responds negatively to this budget, it's a total sh!tshow. The cap on bankers bonuses, as we all know, was in response to the reckless activity that led to the last financial crash - The nasty, stupid tories get rid - It's reprehensible, idiotic. The tax give away to the wealthy is morally bankrupt, f**k me I hate them and all who vote for them.

For the record, I, individually, in the short term and without looking at the bigger economic always 'benefit' from a Tory govt. ****s.

I didn’t move it in the first place. Been in Vegas mate.

You ARE aware that a) you’ve not dealt with my point at all (what do you think of Celtic v Rangers?) and b) you can still post on and read anything in the Bear Pit? Right?

Inflation is high in most western countries.
The pound is only ‘weak’ against the dollar & most other countries are too. Against the euro & yen more a less on a par.
Great for exports too.
The Government has done exactly & more than is needed.
Quite incredible really!

what does your firm provide/produce then?

Sure will. We will be able to take on a further two employees & with corporation tax not going up, allow us to use more profits for growth. More growth = more tax which will benefit all

And what will you do if, say, the predicted 5.5% (and rising) interest rates lead to house repossessions instead of purchase and our stock market and XR against the Dollar keep going through the floor? Presumably lay them off again #ManOfThePeople

You heard the budget this morning and by this afternoon had made a decision to take on an additional 2 employees?! Do you encourage your clients to make snap financial decisions like that??
