Over 105 caps and a CL winning star surely.

Gus - all the way. He totally transformed the way the Albion played from the start. He had the credentials to begin with, an aspiring new coach, an international from Uruguay, classy performer at Chelsea - and a media darling. What could possibly go wrong?

Potter to De Zerbi, is pretty like for like. Most other recent managerial changes we have been of kind, between people of similar stature and reputation within the game.

Slade to Poyet was a paradigm shift. From lower league workman to big league charisma. A leap into a glamorous unknown

Exactly the reason I voted Poyet.

By the time of all the other appointments, the clubs’ status, and our expectations of who we might attract, had changed immeasurably.

The out of the blue announcement of Gus Poyet, when we were expecting the likes of Jim Gannon or Keith Hill, was amazing.

Gus was the most exciting due to his status and therefore promise.....but Zerbi from the position the team is in could take us to unimaginable heights........or not!

Certainly Gus. Given where we were both in terms of the league table and ground, what had gone before and his profile. Very exciting times.

Gus as the step up was absolutely huge. Refreshingly the excitement was justified as he bridged the gap between the Withdean era of predominantly L1/L2 football and establishing us further up the pyramid. Happy days.

That said I am also buzzing for De Zerbi's appointment also.

I sometimes wonder how Hyypia would have fared if the cards were not stacked against him? A superb world class defender but with very limited managerial experience. Sammy Lee, who was an experienced No.2, about to join as his assistant, jumped ship. The team, or rather the group of players, Hyypia inherited were woeful. Sami presumably had a wonderful plan of how they should play (probably to his exacting standards when he was a player). They couldn’t or wouldn’t and there was the crux of the problem - you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. Whatever plan Hyypia had to implement his style of play unravelled very quickly and he soon became a broken man with a broken team.

I would love to know how he would have fared with our current squad?
