Apologies if fixtures, but anyone else heard about nightly violence in Leicester between large gangs of Indian and Pakistani youths?

Just been talking to someone who claims there is some kind of press blackout in operation at the moment, partly as the nation was in mourning for the Queen and also because of the severity of the situation.

Don't listen to her but apparently Julia Hartley Brewer on Talk Radio is the only mainstream media figure whose even touched on the situation.

this was widely covered on BBC, Guardian, saw something on TV news. anyone telling you there is news blackout is lying to you. anyone reporting others saying this is just stirring up.

A normal consequence when you're unwilling to spend the money, time and brain power needed to make integration work.

In the short term it can usually be resolved through locking up a small number of key members acting as influences/demagogues within these groups, but long-term solutions to issues like these demands effort and resources. Unfortunately these resources may not be available since it might require billionaires and transnational corporations to pay taxes rather than draining the society. This in turn requires political parties to actually decide that these billionaires and transnational corporation should indeed pay taxes... decisions that, for reasons we'll ignore or forget, won't happen. Not in the UK, not in Sweden, not anywhere.

I lived in Leicester for a few years. It was very obvious that there were some social issues there, but one of the most obvious divides was one of age. Lots of really quite angry young people, but the older / middle aged were much more mellow.

I'm hoping it dampens down as soon as possible, as yes, this type of thing can spread to other cities

Yeah, but apart from ALL of those outlets mentioned so far, there's been ZERO coverage :moo:

I wouldn't talk to this person – not if you want the truth.

To add....

I can't but ponder, what was it that made you (Ian) accept this information without checking it, then broadcast it on NSC?

I think Lenny's point is it not getting quite as much front end coverage as you would expect given the magnitude of the issue. Much of that though is down to the full coverage of the Queen though plus I suspect they are responsibly trying not to inflame things further. Last thing we need across our major cities is a Muslim v Hindu conflict. Shame they didn't take the same responsible approach when creating the petrol crisis!

does anyone remember, i am going back maybe 20 years maybe more when walking past the Leicester ground loads of youths some very young ambushed lots Albion fans throwing stones, was past a run down looking block flats was literally raining stones. My memory of Leicester is a dirty grubby smelly horrible place, doubt its change much.
