Veltman and gross are two of the best value signings a club in the premier league has made. Absolutely ridiculous.

Quite a few went in because of a weak hand, plus some howlers initially (but those happen to everyone)..

He did make some important saves as well, but I just didn’t think he was good enough, and arguably not much of an upgrade on Stockdale.

All opinions 😃👍

All opinions, yes, but good grief!

A premier-league ready keeper with International and European experience, signed for under £5m, who goes on to make 120+ PL appearances, for a newly promoted club, playing a big part in helping to establish that status, is pretty much the definition of a successful signing.

'Arguably not an upgrade on Stockdale'!? ****ing HELL.

I can't think of another red apart from the ones you mention.

Andone's goal against Palace and some crucial goals in a struggling team which kept us up in our second year, pushes him into amber

I agree with you about Andone. I'd probably add Tau to yours and the OP's Reds though.

Proper possibly sneaks an amber as played a lot if that counts towards this

This is as ridiculous as the other gent's 'Ryan no upgrade on Stockdale' madness.

You're debating which side of the red / amber line, Propper's signing falls?

We signed him for around £14m, as a newly promoted side, and he immediately added class, composure and essential game-management skills, to a decent Championship midfield. He played over 100 PL games, and helped keep us in the top division for 4 seasons, before moving home (with the club recouping a small chunk of that original outlay back).

Its categorically a successful bit of recruitment. Not every signing has to turn a profit.

Can’t Jahanbakhsh be a green just by virtue of THAT goal against Chelsea?

No.

One great moment doesn't rub out the fact he was clearly unsuited to the Premier League, unfancied by two coaches in succession and attracted a "fan" base who were even more deluded than Man Utd fans and spammed the club social media with lies and homophobic hate. Waste of transfer fee, wages and an aeroplane chase.

Sanchez, White, Alzate.

I did mention Sanchez, Alzate is a grey area for me as far as development goes, as he was playing league football when we signed him. And we all know Bielsa made Ben White (alright, I forgot him)

You obviously think he is fair enough, i don’t.

The fact he hasn’t stayed at any club for a significant period as a mainstay number 1 tells its own story. 2-3 seasons and out.

Edit - there are plenty or ordinary keepers with international and European experience.
Stockdale was also called up to the England squad.

Maupay - Amber? Really?
That's either an incredibly tough crowd
Or an indictment on the quality of our recruitment

The aeroplane chase was fun, though, wasn't it? More reason to make him a green.

Veltman and gross are two of the best value signings a club in the premier league has made. Absolutely ridiculous.

Gross, possibly the best signing we have ever made, probably guarenteed our survival for the first two years at premier league level and therefore our best ever signing.

However for VFM, Veltman probably shades him, but lets not forget our status when he signed, arguably far more secure than when Gross signed.

I think Veltman is an awesome signing, one of my favourites, alongside Nobby, Lawro, Ward, Crumplin, Fozizie and Ian Chapman,

But I do think Gross is our best ever signing. And I, for one, thought we'd outgrown him last year. Thats why Graham is our manager and not me!

It's a disgrace!
Karbo! Zeqiri! Mateju!!

Maupay has been part of something incredible here. A huge part. He gets so much crap but he absolutely leaves as a legend IMHO.

If you think Maupay's goals to games ratio makes him a legend, you're insulting other 'legend' strikers we've signed ! Depends how far you go back with your supporting, I suppose ? No offence intended.

Long enough to know we are now playing at a level far higher than anything we have previously (I was a baby when we were in Div 1 but football has moved on hugely).

It has in many respects.

Extremely hypothetical, but I’d suggest if the likes of Robinson, Ritchie, Ward and even Ray Clarke had the benefit of todays players, plus the whole fitness regimes etc…. They would surpass Maupay in terms of impact…… I’d add Terry Connor to that as well.

Jahanbaksh- seemed like a nice guy but not up to it

Looking at your amber list it’s a travesty you have Ryan in there. For two seasons he was an absolutely integral part of us staying up. How on earth can he be in the same list as Button and Steele who almost literally didn’t play a single game because he was so consistent. Did he personally do you or your family some harm?!?!
