Three lions on the shirt, the actual shirt, not the song, when's that gonna get cancelled ? with regard to the Lionesses, Just a thought.

A lion is an animal. A lioness is a reference to the biological sex identification of the animal.

The women's team therefore still have three lions on the shirt.

I'm not sure that lions identify in binary and non-binary format, although Leo at London Zoo waxes his mane, so I guess it won't be long.

How many ‘years of hurt’ are included in the women’s version?

(edit: of the song, sorry OP, didn’t read properly!)

Not during Pride.

Song-wise, '3 Lions' will stay, but there's a fair chance that 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' will be cancelled.

Apparently the temptation to sing it is just a whim away.

Bloody soon I hope. Especially considering the fact that they are actually leopards!

They are representing England. The England badge has always had 3 lions, its been on the coat of arms since the 11th Century.

William the Conqueror introduced the lions as his personal coat of arms used two lions on a red background. Then Henry II married Eleanor of Aquitaine and added an extra lion to symbolise his marriage into that family.

So, ironically, the three lions are actually French.

Well yes. And I sometimes wonder if people from countries where lions are actually native to, think the association of lions by a northern european country is a little odd

England only won one World Cup since the 11th century.

Maybe time to switch to a dog or something.
