Call me old fashioned I pay my money watch the game and trundle off home until the next time. It would never cross my mind to email Barber about anything.

I'm sorry, what?

You, random bloke on the Internet, emailed our club CEO because you had concerns about a potential signing?

Jesus.

Not a bad shout but we were never going to be able to compete with the wages Arsenal were offering him.

The takeaway from this thread is how well regarded Barber is amongst us.

I made my mind up about him a long time ago, when he spoke of the plan to get the beer in that the away fans drink in their home towns. I don't whether it was his idea, but I thought it was genius.

That was Ken Brown idea, but didn’t last long due to high amount of wastage + difficulty / cost of sourcing

I've emailed him three times I think...

The first was ehhh forgettable (yet some kind of unforgetable) but he replied to all my bollocks quite quickly.

Last time was a few weeks ago when I had concerns regarding a potential signing and it only took an hour or so before I was re-directed to some bloke working with "Scouting and Intelligence".

Communicating with this club is incredibly easy compared to a lot of others.

It's a good job Paul Barber doesn't shop in Ikea.
I suspect you're the spotty oik on a work placement, preying on unsuspected CEO's, offering them bottle top openers

Doesn't the club cut all new singings in half and count the rings?

It was a very good idea, and I understand the difficulties involved, but why was there wastage? An unopened keg should last until the next home game, and we could have had it as a guest beer?

They were cask - and generally only good for 3-7 days once tapped.

I sent him an email and he responded same day, we then exchanged a further two or three emails in the space of about 24 hours. I was genuinely impressed. 5 stars.

I'll return to this thread when someone can provide a response to a fan from Barber which says:-

"You know what? You have a real point there. I've got that wrong and it will be changed immediately".

Be nice eh? One day............maybe.

Barber is paid an awful lot of money to be right.

I hope this thread isn’t going to encourage people to send frivolous, “I wonder how long it will take to get a response so I can let NSC know” type emails. Poor bloke.

There’s literally an example of that (and several more later on in the thread) in the third post on here.

I contacted him back in the Sami Hyypia days. He replied, and then invited me down to Lancing and personally showed me round the facilities.

He is a fantastic CEO. You'll not find another more responsive, nor one who cares about the fans as much. You may not agree with his vision - and I've had one disagreement via email - but you can't fault his care, determination and love for the club.

He's the best signing Tony ever made.
