Growth is hugely important and contraction of the economy isn't where we want to be.

Would you agree?

Tell that to the Tory's, not the working man standing up for his rights. Our country's infrastructure is crumbling because hugely profitable companies and the government refuse to pay decent wages or uphold worker's rights while at the same time raking in billions for themselves.

As for people ganging up on you? You have very unpopular, ill informed opinions that you choose to post on a public forum with thousands of members, in a rather combative manner. We all saw your thread opener, you got what you wanted, cheer up, Bootsy.

You mean the people you would like to persuade to change their votes.

You honestly think anyone believes they can change the mind of somebody who still thinks it's a good idea to vote Tory with this current government? No. If Johnson's conduct and that of his inner circle hasn't convinced them a vote for the Tory's is a vote for the downfall of the UK, a man on the internet is unlikely to do the trick :)

:) Bit random. Are you trying to get the thread moved ?

Bozza 's sticky at the top of the Pit starts off like this:

I tend to stay out of this sub-forum, because two sides who will never see the other's perspective and go round and round n the same old circles

This thread is precisely meeting that criteria at the moment.

As with "Tory Meltdown" a series of national strikes by different entities should be a historic topic. School kids in the 2050s are going to look back at the 2020s with absolute horror and fascination, the way I did the late 1930s. And the internet should be an instant time capsule.

Unfortunately, one particular user's inability to back up any of his points and resort immediately to deflection isn't helping the thread, nor is the usual crowd of Bear Pit special kids circling him.

If you on the right want to keep this thread on the big board I suggest you become prepared to defend all of your points like an adult. And if you on the left still want access to this thread and the BB in general I suggest you wind your necks in.

Things won't be great after covid shutdowns and a fuel crisis thanks to Putin.
But it certainly won't help as the unions put us in another shut down.

Things are bad all over if we are all realistic about it.

The unions are just adding to the misery and wealth of our country.

Yes, I would like to persuade them to change their votes, primarily because the basis of current tory success is dividing people into 'us' and 'them';

I am not fundamentally anti-tory but this government is not really tory it's the Boris Johnson Party - a sort of cult, built on lies and supported primarily by Johnson stakeholders but also voters who have factored in/forgotten/never acknowledged/never really understood the heavy freight of sleaze and corruption the mendacious leader continues to bring into our politics.

That's why I would like to persuade them to change their votes.

Here is the latest BBC analysis:

'Why is the UK economy suffering more than other countries?'

The unions don't even get a mention. But Brexit does.

It's clear yet again GB is here to defend his personal viewpoint.
I can not and will not answer every single post as I have a life, I feel I have given this thread a viewpoint of many outside the red wall of Brighton.
Some may get it many won't, it's democracy isn't it to listen to an alternative option.
I was clear on my first point.
Perhaps a turning head movement towards the goaders might be worth taking into your consideration?
It's not all down to me, of course, you could have a stale forum with everyone agreeing Boris is worse than Jimmy Savile.

I have made my view point clear, so I will go off and spend time with my family.
Goodnight.

Hazza, I am well aware of my frailties, and also well aware of my strengths.
I have made this extremely public, so nothing to hide about confronting stuff. Many people would not have done this and still don't face up to it as you say.
But this thread hasn't changed my view on unions and those that drive them.
What is concerning is how others are not able to accept that I am currently more than happy in my views on them.
This may change over time, but as we stand of today.
Mick and the union leaders around the UK are screwing us all, as we stand vulnerable as a country.
That is just unforgivable in my eyes.

And that's it in a nut shell.

Good man. Well, we shall have to disagree. And, yes, if you want to start threads like this, why not?

All the best

Just a quick one, as we have debated this over the years

I did try, for a long time to persuade you not to vote for Brexit.

After you did that, I then tried to persuade you not to vote for Johnson.

After I failed spectacularly and you did that, I finally realised what I was up against

I did say then that I would do what I needed to do to ensure my family were safe from the results, even though after years as a proud Brit I had avoided the obvious measures required, but needs must. I took a whole number of measures to protect myself and my family from the obvious oncoming shitstorm (the majority of which have proved successful) and decided to take up the position of bemused bystander.

I am afraid I am still holding that position and not trying to persuade anyone of anything anymore

I simply hoping that everyone gets what they deserve

Sadly, I know a whole lot of innocent people will get what they never ever deserved :(

It's not all down to me, of course, you could have a stale forum with everyone agreeing Boris is worse than Jimmy Savile.

It's exactly these sorts of "always the victim" posts of yours, that miss the point by a mile, that lead to you being piled on. Let's take it point by point.

It's clear yet again GB is here to defend his personal viewpoint.

Please tell me what my personal viewpoint on this subject is, with a post quote to prove it.

You posted in response, you just didn't answer the question. If you have a life then I suggest you answer the question first time and then you can crack on with it.

I was clear on my first point.

No you weren't. You write with an appalling lack of clarity.

Perhaps a turning head movement towards the goaders might be worth taking into your consideration?

You mean like asking them to wind their necks in and providing two examples?

It's not all down to me, of course, you could have a stale forum with everyone agreeing Boris is worse than Jimmy Savile.

This is a football forum. One on which you have started so many political threads that all of us in mod towers have lost count (which is one of the multiple reasons that none of the others ever come to your defence).

Quite. Start a thread on anything within reason, fine. Disregard the substance of any reply and fail to engage other than to restate the original prejudice, er....not fine.

I appreciate the OP's position as I have intimated. But.....FFS if one cannot engage for whatever reason, expect a tide of pelters, and think twice about starting a provocative thread if you won't (or can't) engage.

Thanks, mods, by the way for not putting this thread in the pit. It has served a purpose. Most people have been reasonably polite, even when reasonably appalled. There is a lesson to be learned here. I'm certain that it isn't that the UK is being brought to its knees by trade unionism, however.

Oh well
