On the rock side of things Def Leppard have been making noises about wanting to play. It’s not at the level of the open “letter” from Lars Ulrich but they have made noises. Although they have sold as many records as many of the headliners they never really had the same level of support in the UK as they did in the US. Can’t see it myself.

Mrs GB and I had the "Elton; headliner or legend?" convo while watching this year's offerings.

I'd personally love him to rock up on Sunday afternoon in full on 70's glam rock regalia and bang out all the hits. As Crodo would say, the crowd would be lapping it up and having an absolute hoot.

I'm not sure he quite has that "Saturday, Pyramid Stage" vibe. She reckons he could headline the whole shebang.

Having seen Elton rocking a stadium (st Mary’s) a few years ago, I’d agree with Mrs GB.

How about Tom Jones?

Again, slightly beyond the realms of possibility, but wouldn't The Monkees be great?

The Doors might be a hoot too

If we’re being really silly, how about Buddy Holly?

I think they will make sure the headliners are diverse, I think each year that one will be a BAME artist and one female ( or both). I think Kate Bush would be a great shout, I think it will be Taylor Swift next year as she was due to headline this year. I think father John misty, John grant, nick cave, the National, WH lung would all be good, a return for future islands. I would like to see some old school reggae/soul/hip hop ( so many greats have left us unfortunately). Black Uhuru, max romeo, Jimmy cliff. Neil Young could be a headliner.

Just less bland pop please like. Sigmabholelliemilliemehhhhh.

Probably Rod Stewart and the Faces

I didn’t even like them first time around but I didn’t like Paul McCartney and Diana Ross and they seem to have been very well received (didn’t watch either, so can’t comment)

Good call, and I note that they've re-formed to play a gig in Bristol for Ukraine. The benefit of them playing is that Geoff can play with Beak> too, who I love. But I'll take your Portishead, and raise you Massive Attack.

I'd love to see Geoff talk a load of crap on the Pyramid Stage with Beak>.

I thought about them too … the Bristol scene.

The thread closer:

Faithless.

They’re far more than Insomnia, the perfect trio, crowd pleasers and some.

Sister Bliss is incredible.

Time to get the Chemical Brothers back on the Pyramid stage, they've played other stages several times but looks like they've only headlined the Pyramid on a Friday back in 2000.

Well he took Woodstock by storm in 1969, and I'm pretty sure Alvin Lee & 10 Years After would do the same to Glastonbury today.
RIP Alvin.

Oasis.

Yes, they would.

Other than that Elton John is a good call. Not a fan of his but he's done so many songs that everyone knows that he'd go down really well(any sexual pun unintended).

Stevie Wonder if he promised to not play any songs after Hotter Than July.

The one that would be the biggest imaginable though is Led Zeppelin. Seriously, that would be huge.
