Great find( if he got his own name wrong) but looks the most likely.
And he wouldn't make the A-z

He said 67. So the date of births don’t tally… Do I approach him tomorrow to call him out or do more research… Winger he reckons and then ankle injuries

Seems the research team at NSC have checked him out.. seems an unlikely claim.

I actually had this situation happen to me. Met a bloke in a pub, said he played for Brighton. I'd never heard of him. Who was that bloke?

Peter O' Sullivan

Ok he was slightly before my time but you can bet my old man gave me a right verbal shoeing for not knowing who he was.

Ask him if he remembers the names of anyone he played with.
Don’t accept forenames only.

Sorry Les,

I have the book open, 3 Players named Turner only at the Albion

Turner (Cf first name not given) 1 appearance 1913

Turner David John '63-72 338 appearances

Turner Thomas 1905-09 136 appearances

Next name is Tustin.

As I said, the book also covers players who were subs but never made a debut. Unfortunately it does not include players who only made the reserves.

He looked good for his age and still fishing. Fair play to him.

Wrong position then, the one found was a keeper. Could be he had trials or came and played only in the reserves.

Could Questions hearing be in question? Could it be a Les Turnball, or a Les Tudor? I feel we need to get to the bottom of this as Les's reputation is at stake...

Don’t be harsh on the old fella. I think we should accept:

Dave, Geoff, Bill, Dave,Steve,Reg, Alfie, Dave, Bill, Frank, Dave.

In a 4-4-2 obvs.

Or Chalky, Nipper, Basher, Chippy, Smudge, Topsy, Lofty, Titch, …… all with appropriate surnames

Dave Turner was one of our unsung heroes. Played in our midfield unspectacularly but consistently well for a long time through most of the 60s and early 70s. Always put in a shift and appreciated by the fans for this.

I hear Dave Lee Turner prefers to be called Lee these days
