Are we doing this again...

No, the schedule is too tough and Brighton wont come 9th. Probably not even 11th.

Generally lots of teams - arguably all twenty - are involved in how the league table will look, better just to look at the win+points total and hope the season will be record breaking in that sense.

9th place? Show some ambitiion man!

After yesterday, I've got my map of Europe spread out on the dining room table again.

Champions League as all we have to do is arrive at the AMEX on time to get 6 points from Bumley and Villa...

...oh.

Unbelievable to think that the only teams to finish above us are the established Big Six plus 2 others.

Massively punched above our weight this season - and the most ridiculous thing is I'm sitting here thinking that after 38 games we were only a few stodgy performances away from a 6th place finish that really wouldn't have flattered us.

Used to be football fans would dream when things went well, however unlikely the dream was. Now it seems curmudgeons are waiting in the wings to mock, even after a fabulous win, quite sad.

Most of us know our place, some seem to like to constantly remind us of it ,even in the good times.

Curmudgeons lost 1-0 - sweet :lolol:

So officially 9th best English team - that’s wonderful and I’m delighted. But let’s be honest we were better than that weren’t we?

As you may have spotted in the table of prize money, Premier League clubs receive an extra £2.2m for each position higher up the table.

Aside from sporting prestige, the greatest incentive for clubs to reach for and stay in the Premier League remains the vast TV money on offer.

Half of the TV jackpot is split evenly between the clubs, which gave each side around £84m during the 2020/21 Premier League season.

A quarter is used as prize money — officially called merit payments — and a quarter is divided up according to various factors, including how often clubs have appeared in televised games.
