Rochdale '72 was an epic night. 35,000 in the ground and 10,000 locked out? That is how it was reported anyway.
It was definately very crowded, I can vouch for that! My personal feeling was that the Bournmouth match earlier that season was even more packed - but that is very subjective; it may have depended on exactly where you were standing.
Twenty five thousand average home crowd for that season!

Bremner/Nelson what a strike force.
Brilliant, I think those two were probably my first Brighton “heroes”.

Such amazing memories, first year I started following home and away, those train journeys as a 14/15 year old….I feel so lucky to have grown up in that period.

Trying to remember when we had a terrible away run - over a year without a win? - in the late 90s.

I recall going on the pitch at the end (somewhere up north), and Kerry Mayo looking at me like I was f**king nuts. :lolol:

V Swindon in the play-offs. The wife was one of the first on, dancing with Fat Steve (RIP). Sky picked up the footage of them dancing and it was used on the promo clips leading up to the final in Cardiff. Was a joyous invasion, don’t remember anyone lumping any Swindon players, or fans.

My first (and last) pitch invasion. Went on after the late equalizer and after the penalties. Was very young.
One Swindon fan was luzzing coins at us, I got one to the chest, not painful but hard enough for me to notice. 8 inches higher and it’s have been very sore.

Can't believe the Mansfield Town half time pitch invasion hasn't been mentioned.

After we broke into the SE corner, the sight of Nigel Erskine storming the West Stand, the directors box,did he get up there?

The tannoy telling us the ref wouldn't re-start the game until we returned to the East Stand, and the ref ignoring it.

The day we knew the tide had turned, that they finally got it. We were not going to roll over and die.

As a kid in the mid 70’s, I one of the nippers who ran on at many Goldstone games to cheer the players to the tunnel.

Then, from memory:

Goldstone - Sheff Weds 1977
Goldstone - Blackpool 1978
SJP - 1979
Withdean - 2009 Russell Slade’s miracle
Withdean - Dagenham & Redbridge 2011, twice! Hundreds including us invaded in error when the game wasn’t finished. There’s a youtube video out there somewhere with me and my 6 year old on my shoulders running on.
Amex - Wigan 2017.

And do know what, I never felt like assaulting or slagging off an opposition player.

I recall too that the Bournemouth match was packed, but when a police dog was set on their fans it was amazing how much room suddenly appeared on the east terrace.
