As there is a bit of a binfest about it going on on the thread about it, can we put it to bed with a poll

You only have one choice, pick carefully

Can only be one winner can’t there?

We are in a better place because of all of the above. And I think Knight was a genuine agitator and maverick who should never be devalued. But without Bloom there’s no chance we’d be where we are.

It is clear that your sole purpose in life is to create divisive polls and then find people to argue with.

You really do need to get a life.

Could of been the dildo brothers if reports were true.

Not sure I like this poll, really.

Is there a thing, being vainglorious on behalf of someone else?

I voted for Dick.

This is why he always makes them public, so he can see who voted for whom.

Icy, if you had made it multi-choice, that would have been fairer, although I still won't vote in public votes on Nsc because of that drunken rant you posted about me. Yes, I know you apologised, but people are allowed opinions, rightly or wrongly.

It's all a bit "X Factor" isn't it?

Rather than accepting that different people at different times stepped up and played pivotal roles according to the circumstances at the time and what had gone before, for some reason there has to be a "winner." Odd way of looking at things.

Without Tony’s massive backing approx £350 million and counting , there would be no rise for BHA - in reality they would be lucky to still be a league club .

....

Agreed. Out of that list I think it does come down to Bloom or Knight (assuming he means Dick not Leon), but I can't vote as they were both the right men at the right time. Yes Dick hasn't got the money and couldn't have built the Amex - but would Bloom have had the necessary campaigning, negotiating or political skills that Knight had to get us the planning permission in the first place?

Quite.

I remember, more than 20 years ago now, a current regular poster on NSC telling me he raised an eyebrow at the media giving the entire credit for Fans United to that lad in Plymouth. He was not wishing to seek glory himself, but still....there is no need for this sort of tabloid silliness, is there?

There's an exchange in Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy that always makes me smile:

Arthur Dent had pressed a button on the space ship that had engaged a clever improbability drive that had saved them from certain doom.

Zaphod, the narcissist said to Arthur 'That was smart thinking, kid'.

In typical English self-deprecatory style Arthur replied 'it was nothing', to which Zaphod concluded 'Really? Forget it, then'.

:lolol:

Impossible question IMO

Without 'the fans' such as Paul S and others getting involved, The Argus wouldn't have found out the truth, DK wouldn't have got involved.

Without DK and the 'Bring home the Albion' campaign we would have stayed at Gillingham.

Without DK (and Martin P) and others (including the tireless FFA Campaign) we would not have got planning permission for Falmer.

Without Bloom Falmer would never have got built - DK has said as much.
