FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Ferguson out on loan.

If a forward becomes available we like we will go for it, I have no doubt.

I suspect Trossard will be sold (along with Bissouma) and potentially Maupay if he doesn't sign a contract. There will be a minor rebuild, especially in the forward positions. I suspect Undav and Sima will join the first team squad along with Welbs and Maupay if he's still with us.
It is interesting about contracts.

We only found out today that the club had a further year option on Welbeck. We know there is a further year option on Veltman as well.

Supposedly there are options on other players - we just don't know today who these options apply to. Maupay ? Trossard ? Mac Allister ?

I suspect the plan was Undav, Maupay, Welbeck and Sima as next season's strikers.

Injury has knocked Sima out of that equation I think and set him back a year. Zeqiri may not make it with us either.

So, for me, 1 new forward signing is possibly still on the cards - the "possibly" becomes "definitely" if Maupay or Trossard leaves.

Makes sense to keep Welbeck with the uncertainty around Trossard & Maupay. Particularly with the time and money invested in *touchwood* surgeries on his injuries last year which look to have been successful

We won't sign a "marquee" centre forward. Newcastle will sign every number 9 available.
We'll get more players for the conveyor belt.
It takes a bit of getting use to but I wouldn't change it now.

**** newcassel , everyone i know who's not a tooner is saying **** newcassel , they even have their own table in the boozer now and no on speaks to them from friday till mundee......**** em.

I don't know who would come in for Maupay or why he'd leave if he's got the option to stay. I think there's a compelling argument that unless he's sold he'd want to be here more than anywhere else. He's loved here - the press made a point about how he got a positive response from fans when leaving the pitch against Norwich, and his name was being sung on Saturday even though he wasn't playing, Potter always speaks highly of him...and who would he go to? At least if he stayed in the Premier League? Is there a Premier League team that's better than us that might also be interested in signing him? That's not to do him down or make out we're better than we are, but I can't see him going to a side competing for the top 6, which doesn't leave many that don't carry strong risk of being a sideways or backwards move from us next season - Wolves, Newcastle, Everton, Villa, Southampton...the levels of difference aren't that big to take a punt and risk a career-changing move I don't think unless the club wants to sell. Obviously not Palace. Leeds a step down. Maybe Leicester?

With the £120m loss over the last couple of seasons I doubt very much we'll spend anything on strikers this summer.

Maupay, Welbeck and Undav, with Sarmiento and Fergusson as back up. Sima to go on loan and Connolly to be moved on is my guess.

Whites £50m is yet to be accounted for.

I agree with your spending prediction but I think we could sneak in the odd free agent such as Cyle Larin.

As others have said, there are also questions over Maupay and Trossard due to their contracts going in to the final years. It would be great business by the club if those two extended and remained with us but I’d be surprised if we kept both.

I also think that Ferguson will get a Championship or League one loan with Sima going to USG (and hopefully Champions League football) on loan.

Finally, I think Mitoma will join our 1st team too.

I think it’ll be this:

Maupay
Welbeck
Undav
Mitoma
Sarmiento
???????? (signed on a free)

I think Maupay the most likely exit move would be abroad. Maybe there's a top half Italian or Spanish club that would take a punt, if he only has a year left.

Trossard I think might end up a PL squad player for a West Ham / Villa / Newcastle type club

Sima - Try another Championship loan and see if he has more luck with injuries
Zeqiri - Always looked decent from the little I saw, but I don't think Potter rates him. Will be sold
Connolly - I think the club will try very hard to ship him out
Andone - I can't remember, did we pay him off? Does he have another year on his deal? If so, he'll be back for pre season then we'll get rid any way we can
Mitoma - Likely will join the squad and challenge for a place
Khadra- Likely will join the squad and challenge for a place
Ferguson - Get him out on loan, he needs to be playing. Same with Tolaj
Sarmiento - I'm going to go against the grain and say the club will make the surprising decision to sent him on a foreign loan for the first half of next season
Undav - In and challenging for first team place
Maupay - This could go either way. Could be offers from abroad, but just have a feeling he'll sign and stay
Trossard - I think he'll go
Welbeck - Most likely he'll wait around for offers then take up another year. Clearly we can't rely on him fitness-wise. Best viewed as a player that every game we get out of him is a bonus.

The conventional wisdom is that this is miles too few attacking options to start a PL season with and the ones we have are prone to injury, horrific losses of form or are totally untried, so we need at least another two in. However this record has been played before.

I also think we'll sign our usual couple of forwards for the development squad and loan them straight out

Agree with most of this but what about van Hecke coming in and challenging for a place?
Sarmiento I hope he stays and gets some games.

Whites £50m is yet to be accounted for.

But that has largely already been spent - after White's sale we bought Cucurella for £16.2m, Mwepu for £20.7m, Scherpen for £4.5m, and Sima for £6.3m (the best part of £47m)

The White money has already been effectively spent.

Also bear in mind that the £13m we got for BDB - some went to Wigan in the sell on, Undav cost £6.3m and Kozlowski cost £9.9m.

We are effectively break even on the White and Burn sales with our subsequent outlays.

Where did you get £20m+ for Mwepu?

Undav most certainly will be given a squad number for next season, but why do you assume that Sima will too?

After all he is still only 20 and has missed 6 months of his loan spell with Stoke due to a long term injury. I'd suggest he is still some way off the first team squad.
