[Albion] Is Graham Potter overrated as a Premier League manager?

Well we can’t use the excuse that the strikers had no service. Thought Neal had a shocker today.

I’m torn after today as well.

He can’t put the ball in the net for the players, unlucky with the injury to Webster and the club did him no favours in the January window.

But he couldn’t motivate the team to beat Norwich and we’ve lost the previous 6 games. And to be honest we’ve been tonked in most of those.

That’s worrying and not good enough for a PL manager in his third season at the club.

He can’t take penalties for people or head the ball past Krul so on its own that game is not his fault.

It was, however, utterly predictable and typical of the whole of his reign.

Change the players, change the coach or carry on just like that? What would you do?

With one goal in 7 though let’s ditch the nonsense that Potter is in any way exciting to watch

We are tactically good but technically poor. Getting your knee over the ball is a technique getting into the position to miss is the tactic

I'm reading that as "change the players".

Norwich came for the draw and just as so many before them had a bank of five and bank of four in the middle of the pitch and gave us the wings. And those are tactics that everyone uses against us if they have inferior players because it works.

Team had 31 shots today and 4 were on target. Not getting your knee over it was only part of the problem.

I'd love to see Potter with better players. But, if we're not going to give him them then we need someone far more pragmatic.

I dont know if its change the players or coach the players. But if anybody thinks potter or hughton before him have the players they want (or wanted) then theyre in a dream.

Moneyball means getting a type of player rather than the exact player. What is worrying is that players like trossard is doing it for belgium albeit in a different position and since african cup of nations Biss isnt (although the legal issues may be a big factor in that)

Strikers confidence is totally shot, but just look how many goals have come from midfielders this season.......might be being harsh but is it even 2 ???

Big clear out in the summer. Think we need some big bad brutes up front.... current strikers are i'm afraid to say powder puff.

I don’t disagree, but surely we have at least the profile of players the manager wants in his system ? If not then why does he keep saying at the end of every transfer window that there is nobody available that would improve his squad ? He has never shown any inclination whilst at BHA to play a different type of striker. We are continually told that every Albion age group plays the same way. I am doubtful that the manager has nothing to do with this methodology, as claimed by some.

You see Maupay’s performance after he missed the pen?

And there’s difference between motivating the players as manager and where what motivation they had came from - because it wasn’t enough.

I thought they all looked very motivated  Where it came from, **** do I know, anywhere except from the spectators would be my guess.

The number of shots we have had recenly is down to Potter's tactics, the misses are down to the players. Either skill level, form or luck certainly not motivation they all want to score but at the moment can't find the net.

Lost a £50 million central defender, the most important defender (for the way he want to play) for a large chunk of the season, not been properly backed in the transfer market (although understandably given the losses) and yet still has us on track for a good season. Yeah he’s good

My son said Maupay had given up after his penalty miss. Welbeck should've have taken it. Maupay missed 4 extremely good chances today and I believe Murray in his late 30s would've buried two of them easily

I’m 100% behind change the players, I think we’ve got a bang average squad of players that are, for the right affectionate reasons, over rated as players by the fans.

And I actually think we already have a pragmatic manager as he gets the maximum possible from this set of players. 13th place with 8 games to go and playing good football is as good as it can get with this squad.

Personally, I wish we played a counter attacking game and I’m relaxed about whether or not Potter’s here next season.

Famously it was our achilles heel last season and Hughton suffered the same shit ….. in essence veteran Muzza kept us up.

So there truly is no difference in the quality of managing between GPott and Hughton? JUst in the quality of the players, or should I say, a few certain players.

You were there were you?

If there’s one thing that really hacks me it’s people sitting on their sofas criticising fans who actually went.
