No, it's actually total bollocks, but I realise you have, shall we say, a prejudiced view, that you cannot overcome. If you are anti-monarchy, that is your right, but the idea that Her Maj has just sat on her arse for the last 70 years is just extreme stupidity.

Can’t believe anyone could be so daft. She’s the Queen, surely everyone knows she sits on a throne.

Given Johnson's amazing ability to cock up, wouldn't be awful if the worst came to the worst as he announces a " Nations Pride " in throwing any remaining Covid mitigations away ?

I hope she makes a full recovery and I’m sure she will.

No serious work, no pressure, no consequences or concerns about whether food will be on the table when they get home.

The hard work royal is just another part of the emperor’s new clothes mythology that helps sustain support for the monarchy. And it’s dishonest, offensive and ridiculous.

How do you know all this? Have you had access to her diary for 70 years?

Do you even understand that you are forming a very strongly held opinion, based on precisely no evidence whatsoever?

Get well soon your majesty. Not royalty’s biggest fan, but can still recognise when the appropriate response is to wish someone who’s suffering a speedy recovery.

Isn't one thread enough for the anti royalist brigade? Seems like it hurts a few to either wish the Queen well, show a bit of f***ing respect or say nothing if you can't say anything nice. Failing to even manage that says a lot about a few posters putting irrelevant drivel on the wrong thread.

How is this in anyway news? I suppose next we'll get it rammed infront of us when she stubs a toe or something.

Blimey @Solid, you've just missed out on a great opportunity to spout your usual match day thread line.

Surely it's: "Game over" for the queen?

Or perhaps you have now learn't to hold your punditry opinion because so often you've got it very wrong?

To answer your question, Covid-19 kills [over 100,000 to-date of] the queen's subjects - stats for death by stubbed-toe aren't published but I'd wager it's fewer.
And if the Queen were to die ....

Does that include the ‘selfish’ people of Lyme Regis’

There are selfish people everywhere and with covid you can now see who those people are without even having to enter dialogue with them. I am sure selfish or not they would all wish Her Majesty well and admire her work ethic in carrying on with light duties even at 95 with this awful virus.

Actually more likely to be southern progressively liberal middle class Hampstead socialists. There's a few ..........................

Good grief. The point scoring from both sides of the political spectrum on this thread is vile. With both sides taking the moral high ground. How about everyone winding their neck in and just wishing a 95 year old woman, who recently lost her husband, well in her fight against a pernicious disease?. And shove your bile in the other threads.

On BBC's Breakfast this morning the two presenters were both dressed in black. When I turned it on I feared the worst.

Or was there another reason that I missed?

Then I'm sure there would be a lot of people who would be upset. It wouldn't bother me, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

I have these arguments with my Brother in-law every week, he's an arch royalist. Wouldn't surprise me if he has posters in his bedroom of Charles and the Queen. He's going to go up to London to celebrate Charles becoming king.
I can think of better ways to spend my Saturday's.

Will's Mrs was all over the news a few weeks back because she was playing a piano. Wow. That makes her so normal and down to earth, what a woman.

Keep biting.
