It was a free transfer according to VFL Bochum's Instagram account. We paid £15m + for him and gave him away years later for free. Not good

In the great scheme of things, irrelevant.

Consider Paul Pogba. At United for 5 years, leaves for peanuts, they then buy him back some years later for silly money, pay him silly money, and he prats around.

Meanwhile we pay Ben White peanuts then sell him for £50 million.

Very good. Barber IN!

Can’t believe a mid table bundeslegia team actually want him ! Even for free saves about £1m on half a season salary .

They must have based their decision on the goal ratio he achieved whilst on loan at Hoffenheim? It was very good indeed (although he probably fell out with the coach/players as he was kicked out the club for some reason despite finding the net frequently).

My guess is that Hofffenheim didnt pay his full salary but when Cincinnati were willing to do that, Brighton used the recall option.

So long, DJ Loca.

Shame it didn't work out, but good luck to him

Onwards.

Wasn't his first goal against Coventry in the cup? I recall saying to my friend when he scored, 'Looks like we've got a proper striker here'..

Good Luck Jurgen

The late, great Tommy Docherty was once asked by a reporter 'Don't you ever worry that you may have wasted your money when you spend a fortune on a player ?' 'Only every time' was the quick witted Glaswegian's reply. Of course this was many years ago - a 'fortune' then would have been measured in hundreds of thousands of £'s - not tens of millions as it would be to day. However I'm sure the same thought passes the mind of every chairman and manager as they watch their latest capture putting pen to paper.

He scored four times in 12 appearances for Hoffenheim. 'very good indeed' is rather overselling it.

Pound for pound, one of the worst signings in the club’s history.
That’s no disrespect to Locadia. He did his best, but he’s not up to this level.
We should never have signed him for that kind of money.
Blame the recruitment team at the time.
I wish him all the best.

Thanks Big Jurg - particularly enjoyed the equaliser at Millwall in the Cup.
Hope things work out well in the Bundesliga.

A winning goal against Everton, the equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Arsenal, the final goal in the 4-1 over Swansea, which is still our biggest-ever Premier League victory. A brilliantly-taken strike at Millwall that kept us in the Cup and made us think that there must be a player in there after all. So he made a mark of sorts. Shame he wasn't the player the recruitment team thought he was.

Bochum's most well known ex player was Stefan ****z the man who knocked England out of Euro 96.
They've been trying for years to find another ****z and they finally got their man.

Phew, what a great start to the day...

Good luck Locadia, thanks for the goal against Millwall and a day out at Wembley, and a few vital goals, keeping us in the EPL.
Some may say a waste of 15 million pounds, but keeping us in the EPL, most would happily pay 15 million alone just for that.

It never worked out, for various reasons, lessons learnt and all that, life is too short to be bitter.

Good luck fella, and now we have freed up some wages, I sense an incoming possible loan in the shape of Edward Keddar Nketiah !!

This. Probably just me but I find the hindsight, gloating and insults towards him and the recruitment team pretty distasteful. Anyone involved in hiring multiple people knows they don’t all work out, for a multitude of reasons.

I really wanted him to come good and every time he pulled on the stripes I fully supported him and told those around me that this was the time that the real Jurgen Locadia would stand up. Sadly against Leeds it sunk in for me that the real Jurgen Locadia was what we had been seeing all this time, and he was absolutely appalling and disinterested. That was the final straw for me. Good riddance!

I don't recall him ever behaving like a complete knob, he just wasn't able to get into our team on a regular basis, so I will never agree with the snide haters. It seems his main fault (apart from not being as good as we all hoped our transfer window panic buy would be) was to have an interest outside of football that wasn't golf.
