Quite. What is the point telling the public about something when doing so will trigger either nothing or panic buing madness. There is no way anybody's life is made better by 'news' like this.
Imagine the media had kept schtum? You turn up and can either buy petrol or not. If not, you go somewhere else where you will be able to buy petrol.
The other view of course is this: you cannot censor the media. If people abreact to bad news that's their problem.
I'm in the former camp. I consider that 'censorship' for the public good is good. The trouble is, of course, governments would use a 'national interest' censorship rubric to protect their own arses from legitimate criticism.
So on the whole I suspect we will need to let the media do their job, and suck up the consequences. Grrrr!
I just hope they don't report a family of paediatricians living in Moulsecoomb or the whole place will soon be up in flames,

rationing doesnt really solve anything with a panic, because everyone goes out to get their ration.
after a weekend of shrill papers, calls for the army to be drafted in, the problem will resolve monday or tuesday when everyone has full tanks. trouble is this weekend anyone low or on fumes is stuffed.

Had to drop Mrs V on Portslade this morning huge queues at the petrol stations on way there, no petrol at any petrol stations on the coast road back to Worthing at all.
Looks like supply chain " issues " for other products could get considerably worse in the next few days if we are short of juice. Talk about a Perfect Storm.

Yes, cones out and plastic " out of use " covers on the individual nozzles.. You might get lucky and find they have that super premium petrol that costs 10p more a litre... I just had a peek as I drove by, the lack of cars told the story.
