• Is There a Risk that Brighton Could Lose Tariq Lamptey?

Tariq Lamptey is one of the hottest talents on the books at Brighton & Hove Albion and, naturally, fans may need to worry slightly about how long he will remain a player at the Falmer Stadium. Ben White recently sought a big-money move to Arsenal, and Lamptey may want to follow suit in an effort to boost his England hopes for the World Cup in 2022.

Lamptey Has Emerged as One of the Top Right-Backs in England

Despite being in and out of Graham Potter’s first team for the last couple of seasons with injury problems, Lamptey has already managed to establish himself as a talent to watch in the Premier League. He is known for his incredible attacking instincts down the right flank and has shown traits similar to other lauded English right-backs Reece James and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

With Brighton aspiring to move up the table and challenge in the top six positions, it’s important to keep hold of players like Lamptey who can help with that push. However, as seen with White last summer, when the rich clubs come knocking it’s hard for Brighton to turn them down. Brighton could risk losing Lamptey in either the upcoming January or summer transfer windows as the wolves come sniffing around.

    Rangnick is Keen on Lamptey
Ralf Rangnick has a huge task on his hands in getting Manchester United into the top four this term, and it has been reported that Lamptey is among his number one targets in January. The Red Devils are currently at odds of 66/1 to win the top flight this term, highlighting just how far off the pace they are. Securing Champions League football will be a struggle, and the German will have to act in the transfer market.

Rangnick’s preferred tactics involve packing the midfield and using highly attacking wingbacks to provide the width on either flank. As more of a defensive-minded player, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not ideally suited to this system. Lamptey, on the other hand, would be perfect. Rangnick will also be aware that his rivals in the top four have world-class players in this position and he needs to match them to keep pace. The 21-year-old could end up being United’s answer to Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold, Chelsea’s James, and Manchester City’s Kyle Walker.

Lamptey May Fancy Big Move to Boost His England Chances
Lamptey seems to enjoy his football under Potter at Brighton, but there’s no doubt he may have his head turned by a club with loftier credentials. This would be the perfect time for him to make a move and establish himself as a long-term solution at a club like United. On top of that, it could also boost his chances of making Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The Three Lions manager is spoilt for choice in this position, so Lamptey would need to be at a competitive club to get a look in.

It is sad to think that Brighton could lose Lamptey after such a short time, but this is the harsh reality of modern football. The good news is that Seagulls would be looking at a fee of around £50 million for the exciting player.
