One breath away from making Ben White the highest-paid defender in its history is Arsenal, with the English media reporting that the Londoners found the golden section with Brighton in an amount close to 60 million euros.

After two failed attempts to make Ben White their own despite the tempting proposals they submitted (the first at 47 million euros and the second at 55), Arsenal did not give up.

They refused to give up, returned with a new improved proposal and everything shows that the third proposal in Brighton for the English international defender was the…charm.

According to the media in the Island with today's reports, a final agreement has been reached between Arsenal and Brighton for the 23-year-old to move to "Emirates" for 58.5 million euros, with the team of Mikel Arteta having even agreed with the player and only to successfully pass a medical examination (when he returns from vacation on July 26) to finalise the deal.

It is noted that White was one of the key players in Graham Potter's team last season and thanks to his very good performances he found a place in the roster of the England national team at Euro 2020 while managing to turn the gunners' interest towards choosing him for the centre of their defence.

Let’s have a closer look at Ben White’s career so far.

Benjamin William "Ben" White (born October 8, 1997, in Poole) is an English football player who is under contract with the first division club Brighton & Hove Albion.

White started playing football at Southampton FC and moved to Brighton & Hove Albion Youth Academy at the age of 16. He made his professional debut on August 9, 2016, in a 4-0 home win in the League Cup against Colchester United. In this 2016/17 season, he was used in another cup game and was also used in 14 games of the reserve team in the Premier League 2.

On August 1, 2017, Ben White moved to fourth division Newport County in a one-year loan deal. He made his debut on August 12 (2nd matchday) in a 1-1 draw against Crewe Alexandra. He scored his first professional goal on November 21 in a 2-1 home defeat against FC Barnet. In the 2017/18 season, he was used in 42 league games, in which he was on the pitch from the start in every single one.

In April 2018, Ben White signed a new contract with Brighton & Hove Albion. After his return, he did not make a breakthrough with the Seagulls the following season, as he could not get past the experienced center-backs Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy, and Leon Balogun. Until January 2019, he only played one role in the FA Cup and otherwise only played in the U-23 team. On January 3, 2019, he moved to third division Peterborough United on loan until the end of the 2018/19 season. There he was a regular player and was used in 15 league games.

On July 1, 2019, Ben White signed a contract extension with Brighton and was loaned to second division Leeds United on the same day. He made his debut in the EFL Championship on August 4 (1st matchday) in a 3-1 home win at the start of the season against Bristol City. After proving himself through impressive achievements in August, he was named PFA Player of the Month on September 4, 2019. On July 22, 2020 (46th matchday), he scored his only goal of the season in a 4-0 home win against Charlton Athletic. He completed all 46 league games of the Whites in this 2019/20 season and rose with the club as a champion in the Premier League.

In 2021 he was called up to the English squad for the European Football Championship, which lost the final against Italy on penalties at their domestic Wembley Stadium.
