• International Update, September 2015

A busy week awaits, for the Albion's growing number of senior and age-group Internationals:

    Gordon Greer (8 caps)
Albion skipper Greer will hope to add to his 8 full caps, in Scotland's two crucial European Championship Qualifiers

Fri 04.09.15, Georgia v Scotland, ECQ, Tblisi
Mon 07.09.15, Scotland v Germany, ECQ, Hampden Park, Glasgow

Tomer Hemed (17) and Beram Kayal (26)
Also in Qualifying action are Israel, in a very tight group. Hemed's recent goalscoring form is expected to see him recalled to the starting XI to try to add to his superb record of 10 goals in 17 appearances, whilst Kayal's excellent start to the domestic season must surely have him in the frame to add to his 26 caps.

Thu 03.09.15, Israel v Andorra, ECQ, Sami Ofer Stadium, Haifa
Sun 06.09.15, Wales v Israel, ECQ, Millenium Stadium, Cardiff

    Niki Maenpaa (25)
Albion's new goalkeeping recruit has recently lost his first choice status with his national team, and is expected to be on the bench for this round of Qualifiers.

Fri 04.09.15, Greece v Finland, ECQ, Athens
Mon 07.09.15, Finland v Faroe Islands, ECQ, Helsinki

Sticking with Finland, it was a surprise to see Hambo's name in their U21 squad for two ECQ games, given that he is yet to feature for any Albion side since his arrival, and he was indeed subsequently removed through injury.

Jake Forster-Caskey (10), Solly March and Christian Walton
England's U21 side start a new era, with most of the previous side now over the age limit. Forster-Caskey is one of the few that remain from the previous squad. Solly March gets a first call up at full U21 level, after making 4 impressive appearances in the U20 Toulon Tournament last summer. A first step up from the U20 squad for Walton will unfortunately now have to wait, after he was forced to withdraw
    through injury.

Thu 03.09.15, England v USA, Friendly Deepdale, Preston
    Mon 07.09.15, Norway v England, ECQ21, Oslo

    Glen Rea (2)
The Brighton born centre back, just loaned to Southend for first team experience, leads a group of young Albion players in the Irish age groups, as he looks to add to his 2 U21 caps

Fri 04.09.15, Rep Ireland v Qatar U23, Friendly , Gigg Lane, Bury
Tue 08.09.15, Andorra v Rep Ireland, ECQ21, Andorra Le Vella

    Tom Cadman
Just recently having stepped up from the Albion U18s to the development squad, Cadman has now received his first International
recognition, being named in the Republic's U19 squad for the first time.

Mon 07.09.15, Italy v Rep Ireland, Friendly

    Jason Molumby and Rian O'Sullivan
Two of the Albion's newer recruits from across the Irish Sea, are the first of our reprentatives in action this week, both playing the full game, as the Republic went down 2-0 in the first of two friendly Internationals in Hungary.

Mon 01.09.15, Hungary 2-0 Rep Ireland, Friendly, Buk, Hungary
Thu 03.09.15, Hungary v Rep Ireland, Friendly, Buk, Hungary

    Connor Tighe
Another new International is Albion scholar Connor Tighe, called up to the Wales U19 squad.
Sat 05.09.15, Wales v Poland, Friendly

Finally, Albion schoolboy Alex Cochrane, played the full game recently, for the England U16s

    20.08.15, England 3-3 Portugal, Friendly, St.Georges Park

I'm sure there are others I have missed, but as I have it, that's the full list.

Others keen to be in the next window update will be Andrew Crofts who will be keen to regain his regular place in the Wales squad once he has proven his recovery from injury, and Jamie Murphy, whose ambition to play for Scotland was cited as a major factor in his decision to move to the club.

Are there many other comparable clubs with such a strong contingent in the age group ranks ?
