• Albionisation of the Amex moving forward

    Albion fans love the Amex.

Although we are now approaching the halfway point of the fourth season in the house that Tony built, many fans still have to pinch themselves that the wonderful
    facility is their footballing home.

The Goldstone will live on in the hearts of all but the youngest Albion fans for ever more, but in truth the old ground was tatty by the time the club moved out. The period of exile in Gillingham was a necessity and although Withdean had some charm, it was not a lot of fun for most when conditions were wet and windy.

One of the small criticisms levelled at the Amex is that it has lacked a degree of Albionisation - personal and characterful touches that put the club's stamp onto the largely blank canvas provided. One metaphor used is that the club moved into a show home, they now need to make it their home.

Eagle-eyed Albion fan and Twitterer BennettsFieldBunny noticed another step being taken today to mark the Amex as the home of Brighton & Hove Albion. What seems to be a new illuminated sign is being put in place along the North East side of the ground that faces the A27 as can be seen in the pictures below.

Update: And here's (part of) the finished article, care of that nice Paul Beirne chap.
