• Brighton beat Arsenal, Everton, Man Utd and Tottenham...

Under a headline that Albion fans won't have read very often, the Daily Star are today reporting that the Albion have been successful in capturing Cork City's highly-rated right back Brian Lenihan.

The Republic of Ireland U-21 player is due to play his last game in Ireland this evening, in a Cup clash against Bohemians, before making his expected move to England.

Crystal Palace are reported to have a bid turned down for the youngster, and Hull were favourites to clinch the deal earlier this week. However it seems the Albion are set to win the race to sign a player who has been compared to Everton's Seamus Coleman.

In a statement the Irish club said: "Cork City Football Club can confirm that the club has received an offer for our player, Brian Lenihan, which has been accepted."

Cork Manager John Caulfield continued: "A lot of teams have watched him, but it's a business deal and it isn't up to Cork City to name the clubs involved."

      He's playing for Cork tonight.
Plenty of time for another club to come in and scupper the deal.
