• Brighton Station taxi rank to close for midweek Albion fixtures

After changes to the queueing system at Brighton Station were introduced for this season, it has now been announced that the main taxi rank will be closed for all home midweek Albion fixtures at the Amex.

Before the opening day Sheffield Wednesday fixture, the queue of fans waiting for Falmer bound trains extended out of the station concourse area itself and through and around the taxi rank itself, and the potential danger was obvious to anyone caught up in the queue at the busiest time.

During this period some Albion fans reported trains leaving Brighton Station that were far from full, which only exacerbated the situation amongst fans eager to get to the Amex.

Taxi companies who use the station rank have been notified of the change: “As you can imagine these evening games hugely increase the passenger flow on our east coast services and so that we can operate a safe queuing system which will need to extend into the designated taxi pick up area we will be closing the rank at the front of the station for these games.”

The rank at the back of the station will be used by those requiring a taxi between 4:00 and 7:45pm on match days.

The Albion have five midweek games scheduled during the current campaign:

    30th September - Cardiff City
    4th November - Wigan Athletic
    24th February - Leeds United
    3rd March - Derby County
    14th April - Huddersfield Town
