• Albion linked with Joe Bennett

After losing out on the signing of Stephen Ward, the Albion are amongst a host of clubs being linked with Aston Villa left-back Joe Bennett.

With the arrival of Aly Cissokho from Valencia, Bennett could be allowed to leave Villa Park in order to gain more first-team opportunities.

Bennett joined Villa from Middlesbrough in the Summer of 2012 for a fee in the region of 2.75m. After a promising first season, Bennett made only seven first team appearances in 2013/14.

At 24 years of age, Bennett would be an acquisition that could cement a place in the Albion's defence for years to come. Lewis Dunk is the only other first team defender with more playing years ahead of him than behind him.

Wolves and QPR have also been mentioned in relation to Bennett. As Albion found in the pursuit of Stephen Ward, it is very difficult for a Championship club, even with the many attractions the Albion possess, to compete with a Premier League suitor.
