• Joćo Teixeira, 'the new Deco', to join up with the Albion

Joćo Carlos Teixeira is set to join the Albion in a season long loan deal from Liverpool.

The 21-year-old Portugese midfielder, who has been dubbed 'the new Deco', is most comfortable on the left-side of midfield, but can also operate centrally. Teixeira starred in the Sporting Lisbon youth side that beat Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield, a performance so impressive that Liverpool immediately moved to bring him to England.

He eventually arrived at Anfield in January 2012 and progressed through Liverpool’s youth team and reserve team before a youth loan move to Brentford. He made two substitute appearances for Brentford before being recalled by Liverpool due to not receiving the pitch minutes the Anfield club were looking for.

In February of this year, Teixeira made his first and only appearance for the Liverpool first team, coming off the bench against Fulham and assisting in Liverpool clinching a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

After that victory, England captain Steven Gerard commented '"I watched this kid a couple of years ago playing for Sporting Lisbon against Liverpool at Anfield in a youth game; I could see straight away he was the best player on the pitch"

He has featured for every Portugese youth team from U-16s all the way through to U-21s, scoring for the latter against Croatia in his sole appearance to date.

Sami Hyypia will be hoping that Teixeira brings some of the creative spark that was largely lacking in the Albion’s opening day defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

One man who will be disappointed with the move is BBC Sussex Sport’s Warren Aspinall. Just how many different ways will he pronounce his name?

Apparently he's only agreed to come here to support the much maligned kid who had the foresight to wear a Liverpool shirt at the Amex. Buy that kid a pie !

Looks promising. I wonder why Brentford did not play him.
