I'm all for stuff that creates an atmosphere at modern football - I'm one of those that would be open to a drum to get the crowd signing in unison.

However, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that is required to augment the instantaneous visceral release from 10s of thousands of fans going mental for 5-10 seconds when the ball hits the net. Why would you even bother attempting? Any manufactured stuff, be it goal music or flag waving, is insignificant and largely unnoticed in comparison.

Absolutely 100% this.

Take Buckley's winner against Donny for example - would that moment and that release of 14 years worth of emotion have been any better with goal music or a big flag?
