I'm guessing that 'Foxy' meant 'sly' or 'crafty' as opposed to 'vulgar' as suggested by the Guardian.

Surely he couldn't have meant 'foxy' in the way that Jimi Hendrix did?

A quick play around with the translate tool suggests he probably had the word "furbo" in mind.
Which apparently can mean sly, crafty, clever etc. in either a good or a bad way, depending on the context.

I suspect that Gege’ Bau, who commented on one of my posts, may know something about the meaning of the Italian word 'furbo'.

I guess snide is probably a better word for what he meant, but is just a guess.
Of course, he could just be going mad.
This is why all footballers and managers should be prohibited from having translators. It's not like they're ever saying anything particularly interesting anyway, so making them take wild guesses at the right word is much more fun.
