Brighton & Hove Albion began September with two tough away games against former Premier League sides in Reading and QPR, and came away with two hard-fought points. The Seagulls played out a stalemate in an eventful match at the Madejski Stadium, as Pavel Pogrebnyak was shown his marching orders for a second bookable offence following a dive, while Leo Ulloa was sent off just ten minutes later after a high foot on Ben Pearce.
Arguably Albion looked the more likely winners with Ashley Barnes and Stephen Ward closest to breaking the deadlock in the second half.

Albion then secured back-to-back clean sheets and made it five games unbeaten with another goalless draw, this time at Loftus Road against a strong QPR side. The Seagulls rear-guard standing firm in a match with few opportunities.

The first home game of the month came against Bolton Wanderers on Spanish Day at the Amex with Inigo Calderon scoring one of three goals in a mad five minutes to complete a comeback from 1-0 down and claim a 3-1 victory.

The month ended on a sour note though at Ipswich, as David McGoldrick’s brace inside the opening 25 minutes gave the Tractor Boys all three points.
