CHRIS HUGHTON was delighted to give Rob Hunt his first league outing for Brighton & Hove Albion, as the full-back came off the bench in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Burton Albion.Chris Hughton
Hunt replaced Bruno in the 73rd minute, with the deadlock yet to be broken, and Hughton felt the young defender got the reward for his patience.
He said, “I’m pleased for him [Hunt] because he’s someone who’s made good progress in the first-team group and sometimes these openings happen.
“Liam [Rosenior] and Bruno are the competition for that right-back position, but Liam picked up an injury and it put Hunty in a more competitive position.
“He’s really enjoyed it and stepped up to the mark."
The Albion boss felt his players gave the Brewers the respect they deserved, and highlighted the rewarding feeling taken away from another hard-fought victory.
“One thing we learnt last season is that there are no easy games in this division.
“We certainly didn’t come here taking it lightly and there wasn’t one player who came here thinking it would be an easy game.
“Sometimes when you get victories like this, they mean that little bit more, but it would be nice if it was a bit more comfortable."

NIGEL CLOUGH was frustrated that his team weren’t able to cling on to a share of the spoils, after conceding a late penalty at the Pirelli Stadium.The Brewers boss felt an element of endurance was lacking in the closing stages of Saturday’s defeat, but praised the Seagulls for their quality on and off the ball.
He said, ”All we needed to do was see the game out to get a point. We had a couple of forays forward and might have nicked ones ourselves, but we have to not throw it away.
"Their closing down and their overall play, was streets ahead of anything we have seen so far.
"We could have lost 3 or 4-0 with the quality Brighton have and the possession they had, but we didn't and we hung in there."
Clough recognised the hard work his players have put in so far this season, but is now focused on making improvements, as the Brewers adapt to life in the Championship.
"There was an awful lot of heart and effort that went in on the back of the two away games - and we were so close [to a getting a draw].
"In these opening games we have given away too many points. We need to start learning and acting on it quickly."
