Falmer was ONLY viable with better varied transport links but it wasnt built on that basis. Needed massive car parks, non on the stupid parking restrictions, needed Falmer stn upgrade expansion and far far far more trains and carriages. Needed more facilities outside stadium. Needed to have modular design not what got stuck with whereby cant built on in all areas. Too restrictive. No hotel no shops no bars outside no toilets and over reliant on few walking options. Yeah wrong place in form was built. Poorly designed with short sighted vision. Waterhall and new station was far better option.

OK.

How right you are, the last 11 years have proven to be an utter disaster. If only we’d found a more viable plan think what we’d have achieved.

Right then right now. Waterhall made a lot of sense and with a proper purpose built train stn wouldve been better for transport than Falmer. Falmer was also built in an area of outstanding natural beauty not that we should let facts get in the way. Waterhall would cost less as didnt need a mountain of soil dug up to try and hide it. Waterhall was easier to get away fans in and out and segregate. Waterhall also could have regenerated the area around. Yes Waterhall was a better option. Yes Falmer has had success but its also never fully solved transport issues all round.

Those two letters completely ignore the fact that it was proven at the public inquires a stadium at Waterhall was not an option as a train station couldn’t actually be built there due to restrictions on where a station can be built on a mainline.

I am in agreement with Beach Hut and his post above.

Not if you were a Brighton fan with a shit website and a plan for the stadium to be built in another part of Sussex that looked like it had been sketched by a 5 year old.

But, but, but. Ann Summers for the ladies? Paddock for the Police Horses?

I believe that Waterhall had a covenant prohibiting develpment too.
