Hi all. I have a family member in the Brighton area who is in need of some counseling or similar.
Would anyone be able to recommend someone or a service they or a family member / friend have seen and have had a positive experience with.
(Preferably a man)
Please DM if you don't want to be seen on this post.
Many thanks.

Bang! And the dirt is gone.
A couple of years ago I attended the Rock Clinic in Brighton (near Lidl) once a week for about 10 months. Really friendly and helpful to ne. A friend contacted them late last year, but was told there was about a 6 month wait to see a counsellor. Tjat may well have decreased since though.

Pre lockdown I used a Relate (in Crawley) they were good. I have no recent experiences for them so don't know about waiting times etc.
You could also ask your GP for a referral to local services, that worked for me too.

Health in mind were brilliant for me. But the best thing is to first have your family member contact your GP. They can help massively

Without wanting to pry too much, I think the best route very much depends on the nature of the issue. For instance, in my own case I suffer from OCD and have been given some great therapy by a real specialist in that area. However, if I’d have attempted the same thing with a MH professional who specialised in more traditional ‘talking therapies’, I don’t think it would have helped at all.

None of this is designed to denigrate the experience of any counsellors etc in general, but more to emphasise that if possible finding someone well matched to the condition you’re suffering from (or suspect you’re suffering from) can be absolutely crucial in getting the most effective help.

Just my twopennyworth from my own experience.
