Overshadowed by the recent success of the mens team, but another bad defeat for the Women yesterday who seem to be going through a very difficult period after losing so many players last summer.

Such a shame if they got relegated just when women’s football is booming.

Not the most auspicious of starts for the new manager.

Does anyone know why we did lose so many players in such a short time? I'm not really a follower of the womens team l'm afraid.

Most women in the professional game are on short contracts (often only a season but they are starting to increase - hence why transfer fees are actually quite rare) so far more transfer activity. The bigger issue was why nothing was seemingly being done to get replacements in ?

Oh l see.

I hear that Beth Mead isn't too bad, maybe we should have made an offer.

Don't worry . . . said in jest.

Buying a bunch of players that at least on paper shouldn't get anywhere near the WSL is not a promising sign.

Was very surprised to read that the club had no idea about Julia Zanotti and Emma Kullberg being a couple before they signed contracts with them. Not because it matters in itself, but because it proved that the club had not spent even ten minutes on Google trying to find basic information about who they were signing.

Absolutely staggering they didn’t know. Asks really serious questions about their scouting - which is odd given how good things are with the men.

Plenty of changes on the pitch but there needs to be a change in goal.
Agree that defensively there are issues but not sure Walsh is the issue.

She was brilliant last season and rightly a on player of the season. The defence in front of her has been torn apart, Le Tissier, Kovisto, Gibbons and Kerkdijk all gone.

She's forgiven for a lot of errors, the standard of goalkeeping in the women's game currently is poor but she's bringing the standard down. No way a defence has confidence in her, she's a female Nicky Rust.

The Rust / Ormerod conundrum?
can you imagine what this place would be like ?
Sorry I digress back to the ladies

I believe it has its roots in a lack of trust in Hope Powells judgement and some other factors allready mentioned. Some of the players who left weren't up to it eg Gibbons but others were lost through a lack of financial incentives. I don't know much about the new signings but none of them appear to be of particularly high quality.

Lets just hope it's a cycle and things will improve soon ....
