Was reports that the previous owners sacked McDermott just before handing control of the club to the Italian.

The new owner seems to like sacking managers (Ficcadenti {Aug-Nov 2011} >Ballasrini {Nov 2011-March 2012} >Ficcadenti {March-Oct 2012}), replacing them and then if all does not go to plan reinstating the manager he sacked.....!

So Mr McD do not be too concerned as if his appointment fails he might just come back for you.

Just announced that he hasn't been sacked after all:

"The club would like to make it clear that Brian McDermott remains our first team manager. He has not been dismissed from his post as has been suggested and we look forward to him continuing in his role with us in taking Leeds United forwards."
