Following on from the Wayne Rooney injury scare, Fabio Capello has dispatched right hand man Franco Baldini to the South Coast today to cast his eye over strikers Glenn Murray and Ricky Lambert, the two hitmen are believed to be going head to head in a shoot off for a spot in the squad for the next friendly against Mexico on May 24th.

Ricky Lambert is new on the radar but on the recent England bugging scandal tapes Capello can clearly be heard asking "Who is this Lower League Berbatov, why have I not heard of him before"

"I thought Charlie Oatway was winding me up when he told me," Murray told BBC Sussex. "It's come late in my career, but I always believed I am better than Bobby Zamora despite what those twats on North Stand Chat say” When told about competition from Ricky Lambert he added: "Bring it on, I never rated him at Bristol Rovers and I don’t rate him now if I am the lower league Berbatov then he must be the lower league Marco Boogers".

Murray has scored 12 goals in 28 league appearances for the Seagulls this season.

Is that all your own work - or did you nick it from Michael McIntyre?
