Told a lie it was 3h 38

2016: 3h38
2017: 3h23
2018: 3h02

After 2017 decided to have a go at running a GFA so ran through the summer and did a couple of quick half marathons at the end of summer which bled into training for BM.

Will probably do the same this year, sign up to a half marathon in September to focus on.

Barns Green is a great September half in Sussex.

soistes A quick check suggests you have a Boston qualifying time - would nt be a bad scalp as your second marathon?

Jose Izquierdo has posted a video on Instagram of him and a friend laughing and shouting at some guy on Grand Avenue being stretchered off the course. ??? That's a bit dire.

I hope that's not true, but if it is, I've lost a lot of respect for the guy.

[edit] I've just looked and can't see it on his Instagram account, so it's either not true, or he's deleted it (which would also have been sensible)

This is lovely reading tonight. I love our city, our marathon and our message board. Well done to all the runners, volunteers and supporters.

This - it's great how some of these 'specialist' threads, like the running one, are entirely positive, celebratory and supportive in tone, and almost never degenerate into name-calling, and childish abuse like some of the other threads always seem to (some of the Albion threads, and almost all of the politics ones)

Last one to check in, by the looks of it. A tale of two halves for me – not a great time for Brighton (4.24), but probably the most enjoyable one of the four I've done. I quickly put any thoughts of going under four hours out of my mind and just settled into a nice rhythm and tried to keep it steady. Halfway in around two hours and got to around 18 miles before I had to walk for the first time – and then it was run/walk for the rest of the way around. But that's fine – I'm carrying a lot of extra timber and I've not exactly stuck to a training plan, hence why I had no real expectations.

Fantastic support and great to see so many familiar faces on and off the course. And to the NSC Brighton crew: well done to each and every one of you, whether you achieved your intended goal or not. As The Complete Badger says, a marathon is a VERY different beast to a half and they are not designed to be easy! I might swerve it next year or opt for the 10k, but I've surprised myself and will probably head back for another crack in 2020.

Another mention for London – it's a great day out and the support is second to none. It's the one everyone wants to do – and I can understand why.

I got round in 3:27:53.

I was on for a PB but hit the wall for the first time ever at mile 24. I slowed to a walk for 3/4 of a mile which proved costly. Never mind. Well done to everyone else who took part and especially the crowds for the support. By gees I needed it.

Lost me thousands on my tricast at the bookies. I had delete beep, Curious and Ninja 1,2,3.

Excellent running. I'm also impressed with BenElton'sBrother smashing sub 4. After using him as a pacer round Hove Parkrun for the last month he should not have been so polite when trotting past my plodding donkey of a body at 14 miles having started in the corral behind me.

I really hope this isn’t true. Or has been misinterpreted or something.
