Is it really though? I don't think it is.

St Georges day isn't frowned upon by anyone, it's just not considered important. It seems that some can't grasp that nationality is something that many of us just roll with, it's kind of fun when it comes to sport and a bit of gentle banter with your work colleagues, but not something to get too excited about, it's just an accident of birth. Which is also why some of us don't see 'Britain for the British and are happy to share some of the relative comfort of the country we just happen to have born with.

It sums up that other people in the UK can celebrate, sing, drink, dance and air their patriotism, but when it's St Georges day it's frowned upon as being Lil' Englanders.

No it isnt..
There were St Georges up and down the country, that went ahead quite normally. Bouncy castles, face-painting, home-made jam
The only St Georges Day 'parade' that was opposed was in Brighton. The reasons why, are obvious to normal people.

Why is it bigoted to hate UKIP? You blather on and on and on about how much you hate anything to the left of Dave Cameron and the 'evils' of socialism; does that make you a bigot? If not, why not and what is the difference?

Your posts regularly make me chuckle because you speak like an old confused man who constantly contradicts himself and quotes Daily Mail editorials as fact.

(And your erroneous and excessive use of ellipsis is second only to cunning fergus. Jus' sayin'.)
I might be older than most of you but I'm certainly not confused...and I do not quote Daily Mail editorials as fact.
Some of you say that UKIP is bigoted...can't you see the irony there...you are being a bigot because you call a party bigoted.
Just point out to me where I say I HATE the left...I don't agree with a lot they say and how they go about things...but hate them,No.
There has to be a wide range of choice on different issues which is something some political dealers do not wish us to have...very democratic Not!
At one time Labour were the biggest opponents of the EU, Hugh Gaitskill was very anti Europe. As EFTA Europe was fine, but if you cannot see the creeping takeover bit by bit of Laws made in our Parliament which are gradually being eroded away, the creeping towards an European Super State which is very undemocratic, then if it comes please don't complain they have made a law you don't like and you cannot vote against it.
It is not necessary to withdraw from the EU but it is of upmost importance that we reform the way it is run,at the moment undemocratic, full of corruption and waste.
If,and I do, want to use ellipsis that is my choice,if it offends you, tough titty mate, live with it.(Just saying like...)

Frowned on by whom?

Exterior: Daytime:

A bright sunny day in April, England in all it's glory.

SOTW stands outside a pub covered in George Crosses. He is furious. Chanting.

"Let us celebrate our saint, let us celebrate our saint"

A few people gather to see what the fuss is. The few turn into a crowd.

One asks.

"What's up sir"?

SOTW

"Look at you all, look at you, frowning on me"

Crowd:

"What's up?"

SGOTW.

"No-one will let me celebrate St George's day"

The crowd

"Oh right, well crack on, have a good one"

The crowd disperses and SGOTW, unhindered, sits and has a pint. Like every other day of the year.

The End.

22 pages of people trying to smear and convince the voter not to vote UKIP , you must be worried !!!!!!

For me it's about time someone stood up for what they believe and say what they think , politicians are too worried these days for upsetting minority groups etc and be picked off .

We need another Margaret Thatcher who used to speak her mind and says what she thinks , doubt we will see that again !

Anyway you haven't convinced me and I will vote UKIP and I am experienced enough and old enough to make my own decisions thank you . Roll on Thursday :)

Not sure how a 'smear' comes out of reality...isnt a smear somthing that is made up?...and where are these 'no-go zones' you mentioned in Prague?

There was a Town Hall that refused to fly the St Georges flag on that day...in case it upset muslins...yet they happily flew the EU flag.

It's taking me a while to COTTON on to quite how absurd you're arguments are, it's not in the FABRIC of our society to go overboard on St Georges day and in these times where councils are under financial pressure it's important that they cut their CLOTH according and don't go spending on expensive flags.

Why is this not being reported more in the media today. Very quick to call UKIP racists and every other silly name this week.

http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/local/...reet-1-6628513
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...mmigrants.html

Well it's in two papers you've found plus the local

http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/local/two-arrests-over-mass-brawl-on-sheffield-street-1-6628513

A mass brawl with no property damage and one youth injured. Worse things happen outside nightclubs and kebab shops every weekend. Should we ban the doner? Send home club owners who discount WKD? The actual question is "would the Mail and Star have reported this if it didn't involve the Roma?"

Anywho, head down to your local SpAsda and check out the summer/bbq/world cup displays. All the weak fizzy lager and George Cross bunting you can shove up yer arris and haul home. Does that not make you happy? You will even be able to stagger around the streets yelling ENGLAND soon and not get "frowned" upon.

We need another Margaret Thatcher who used to speak her mind and says what she thinks , doubt we will see that again !

You want another Prime Minister who died in the Ritz which is owned by a Company that pays little or no taxes, flogged off all our oil wealth to the highest bidder, financialized the economy at the expense of the poor, demonized them, was in involved in dodgy arms deals and indirectly supported the likes of Pinochet and Pol Pot?

I never realised that Thatcher had been in power in the Czech Republic. Nothing would have surprised me about that loathesome old toilet witch though.
