Interesting to see my Scottish pals falling out with each other on social media already. Brexit-type wounds being reopened amongst the 'ayes' and the 'naws'
Professionals seem to be in the naw camp, probably recognising Scotland would be bankrupt in no time under it's own steam.
Sturgeon is an intelligent, articulate woman pursuing basically a single, populist issue (riding on anti-English sentiment) and she'll do everything she can to get another vote, and get the 'ayes' on her side (including impressionable 16 year olds presumably like previously)

Believe me, the amount of 'they fekcin' English' - blamed for everything - you'd not come out with sympathetic crap for the Scots. A bunch of racialists, the lot of them, if ever there was one! I've lived there and experienced it first hand.

I believe that living in the England must be nearly as many first second and third generation of scots as actually live in Scotland.
On my father side my Grandad was born in Scotland and moved to Manchester for work.
The point never gets raised in debate how intergrated we are.
The Scotish can vote in the Uk general election but the scots living in England don't have a say.
I hope we stay as one Union we always been better together.

Can't say I've experienced anything too different than I have in other parts of the country. There's a general resentment throughout the UK towards London and the South East, it's certainly more pointed in N.I, Wales and Scotland, but then I think that's reciprocal and at times self perpetuating.
I haven't lived in Scotland, but I do think it's a beautiful part of the world and as my wifes family are Scottish I would definitely consider moving there if independence happens.
Will be plenty of houses available given the number of people I know that say they'll leave if independence happens........

I have, this anti English thing is hogwash, it's just not true. Of course in sport we're the team they want to smash but it's not a serious thing.

Yes, a lot of people move to poor countries in their retirement because their money goes a lot further. It is a beautiful part of the world. It's just a pity a massive chip on the shoulder, anti-sassenach bigotry and bloody-minded stupidity has taken hold of so many people living there.

i suspect our mikey is one of those saps who laughs politely when told by a jock how much they hate the english and support anyone but us.
I lived in Edinburgh for 18 months and there's absolutely no doubt that a percentage of the population really don't like the English and have a real chip on their shoulder about us. That said it was only ever a minority of Scots who felt strongly about it - the majority I encountered were always pretty chilled about the whole England:Scotland thing.

Absolutely this. To be fair, on a one-to-one face-to-face basis it's generally OK; the girls I slept with were friendly enough! On the whole though, it's a racism thing - 'you're OK, but the English in general are *******s and we hate them'. ABE rules and all that.

There are some areas, especially around Glasgow, which are very anti English, but there are other areas, which aren't. Don't forget the majority of Scots voted to stay in the Union, and according to the YouGov poll, I posted earlier in the thread, that majority has increased.

My experience was primarily with the east side and central Scotland. 45% of Scots voted to leave the Union; the other 55% realised where the money came from.

Not really sure what the retirement bit has to do with it.
As I alluded to in my previous post the chip on the shoulder thing, bigotry and stupidity are not limited to Scotland.
