True but ours did not play 20 odd games in the Premier league last season and have a year left on his contract. Would love it if we did decide to come back to Brighton where he clearly does still have some strong connections.

He has set up some kind of soccer school in Brighton so it's probably linked to that.
If we play the complete reserve team v Colchester, we are one short at left back. Hünemeier still injured. A left footer is required and we are lacking a left footer in midfield as well. I would shortlist Helan at Sheff Wed.
If you watch full backs, they use their strong leg more effectively at blocking crosses on the outside against a conventional winger (not so good against inverted wingers). Also they can overlap more effectively, but most important is distribution under pressure is better up the wing with their left foot as a wrong footed full back may pass inside where it is more crowded.
It makes sense to have a utility player who can play more than one position on the left, where Forster-Caskey is our only left footed midfielder (excluding wingers). JDC is no good at full back either.
PS: I don't like Pudil. I always thought he was the weak link when he played for Watford. He is 30 now, past his peak. Marshall is right footed.
Actually, Russell Martin aint that great but not just that but I am almost certain that - CH would not sign Russell Martin
