I have previously commented about certain posters and their pant pissing when it comes to Germany. larus really does take it to another level. He’s utterly obsessed with the country. Weird. Why not have a **** when say Czech Republic is in the news? Why not pull on off over Italy?

I have good friend whom also lives in Stockholm and his account of living there is a different one to yours. He sees that law and order is being broken down. These migrants simply do not respect it. He says the police seem powerless or even to scared to do anything about it. That's his view of things not mine. He comes over quite often to see games and I'll be seeing him for the man utd match. I have no doubts that he will have more stories to tell. Believe me this man is not racist in anyway, shape or form. Just saying what he sees.

Fair enough, but the right wing media here is known for stirring things up without any factual evidence (sound familiar to anywhere else). Like in any country or city, when you group low income migrants into one run down area, crime happens, doesn’t matter if they are white, black, Muslim or alien. But trust me, even Rinkeby (supposed by the media, mostly in other countries, to be the worst ‘no go zone’ of them all) is much calmer and well maintained than St James Street! I’ve never once seen a single act of violence or felt unsafe (nor has my girlfriend, a swede who works in these ‘no go zones’ everyday. That’s not to say that just because I haven’t experienced it, that it doesn’t exist, but it’s ridiculous to here of Sweden being over run and law breaking down because it’s simply not true.

Looks like the BBC are stirring things up as well .

Sweden's deadly problem with hand grenades

A stark rise in incidents involving hand grenade explosions has become emblematic of the wider rise in violent crime in Swedish cities, report James Clayton and Caitlin Hanrahan for BBC Newsnight.

Daniel Cuevas Zuniga was cycling home from a night shift in southern Stockholm in January when he stopped to pick up an object on the path.

Police believe the 63 year old, who worked at an elderly people's home, thought the device was a toy.

But it was a hand grenade, which exploded as he touched it and killed him almost immediately.

His wife, Wanna, was riding ahead of him near Varby railway station. She was knocked to the ground by the blast.

Shrapnel marks can still be seen on a nearby lamppost.

"How could a hand grenade be on the bike path?" Wanna said later in an interview with local media.

"My view on Sweden has changed. I really wonder how such a thing could happen... I am completely traumatised."

The number of explosions caused by hand grenades has increased in Sweden in recent years. There were fewer than five in 2014 but at least 20 in 2017, and a further 39 grenades were seized by police.

The devices are easily obtained, says Reine Bergland of Stockholm police. They can be bought from gangs for just a couple of hundred Swedish kroner (about £20).

"Sometimes when they buy weapons they get grenades as part of the deal. They throw in a couple of hand grenades, so to speak."

Swedish security chief warning on fake news
Reality Check: Is Malmo the 'rape capital' of Europe?

The rise in possession of hand grenades - mainly unused stock from the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s - has come to symbolise Sweden's heated debate about violent crime as it heads towards an election in September.

The rate of violent crime in the suburbs of Sweden's big cities has worsened in recent years, in what officials blame on rising gang-related crime.

There were 306 shootings last year, which left 41 people dead. In 2011, there were 17 fatalities.

The violence has turned some parts of Stockholm into "no-go zones" for paramedics, says Henrik Johansson, former head of Sweden's paramedics union.

"People who live in these areas are very scared to call the police or get help from ambulances. They are scared about consequences for them and their families."

Police have acknowledged 60 or so "vulnerable areas" but reject the description of "no-go zones", a highly loaded term in Sweden.

After all, violent crime in Sweden and who is to blame for it has become an ideological battlefield.

Each to their own but Stockholm is one of those places that I instantly felt comfortable in and felt I could live in given the circumstances. Barcelona is another, a place where they are welcoming immigrants over tourists incidentally.

https://www.theguardian.com/cities/...me-why-barcelona-chose-migrants-over-visitors

On the other hand I've visited a few places here and abroad and just thought "not for me" or words to similar effect but it's not really been to do with immigration. I worked in Warsaw in the late 90s and couldn't stand it. Concrete communist apartment blocks, rampant Americanisation post communism and nutty taxi drivers. Milton Keynes must be the most soulless place on the planet. Peterborough is horrendous but not because of the immigrants. It must have the weirdest locals I've ever encountered. Like a large village where everyone's married their cousin. And the level of homelessness and dirt in London these days is hearbreaking.

So the facts now seem to be:
The man with the knife was peeling an apple when he got attacked by 14 racist,right-wing,pensioners and was acting in self defence.
He is German, not Iranian in the slightest, and possibly ill.
His backpack was full of Muslim cultural leaflets and was only smoking because he had left it in the sunlight.

Quite a few generizations in there. I will pass on your comments to people I know from Peterborough. I'm not sure it will do much for cultural understanding between East Anglia and Brighton. Bearing in mind the new, high profile of the club I'm wondering whether this thread should be closed before anyone else decides to parade their prejudices against brown people, white people, muslims, Christians or whomever else.

OK, fair enough. It wasn't my account. Just what I've been told. You're right about the media.

West is BEST
The problems we have in the west are actually because of liberalism that has gone so far left that this west has no direction or identity. Its a society of vulnerable weak people and a very oppressed society.

Maybe the media outlets have way to much power now as it controls and manipulates people !!
If anything it's leavers that should be followed as these are the people that have a backbone and don't fear change and many are middle aged and pensioners that have life experience unlike the usual youngsters that have zero life experience.

Look at Europe and look at this country and you will see that society is changing for the worse because it's a process that is integrating the world too fast.If you want to change the way Europe is you don't take away their identities. The liberal way will always be open borders and a free world, but you're integrating lots of types of religions and cultures at an alarming rate and these things need to be prepared for.
These poorer countries need to change to keep them there instead of everybody wanting to flock to other prosperous countries.
We live in a very depressed society with far worse to come I'm sure... but as we leave the EU we must grow a back bone and build for the future although sadly we have far to many liberals who are followers and can't hack change. Most don't have issues with immigration they have issues with the amount of immigration and not being ambled to completely control your borders.

Liberals are completely blinded by what is going on and they are the biggest problem with modern day society!!!

If you actually believe that, well, that’s a shame.

When mass killings / violent attacks happen the view depends where it happens and the cause:

America - Dumbass thickness and gun laws wrong

Europe - Immigration and raging racialism

Blimey, you don't do humour do you? A generalisation on a thread full of them. Imagine that. It's almost like I used some kind of literary device in something I wrote.

Nope, still no idea what you're on about.

You really are a sensitive soul aren’t you.

BTW, what do you mean “Why not pull on off over Italy?”? Is this some kind of switch you are on about

You seem to be one of those people that likes to take the piss but get angry if it’s done back to you. Counselling may help deal with your underlying emotional issues.

Now let’s deal with the facts and not your emotional failings (I don’t have that much time available for that). I noticed a headline about an incident which seemed worth mentioning. In my first post, I never added any speculation, but as per usual, threads have the ability to take their own course. But, as is your wont, you choose to be very selective in your interpretation.

In regards to Italy, I have added threads in the past about their issues in relation to government and economy, so again, another big fail.

But do carrry on.

You may think that, say, an Islamic Republic of Yorkshire is not possible, however time will tell..........no doubt some progressive Serb types that lived in Kosovo 100 years ago said that to other Serbs when the Albanians started to roll in.

 (Completely ignoring the rest of the batshit post) You clearly know **** all about Balkan history!

Sounds like the Jim Davidson defence to me. Perhaps the anti Muslim generalizations on this thread are also humour then.

Edit; sorry, that came across as more of a dig than intended. I just don't think that countering narrow mindedness with narrow mindedness is very productive.

Weird that you are interested in my sexual activity - you’ve enquired more than once now.

So, for clarification for you. On that Friday night in question, I’d been in work since 7:00 am. I’d left work at 5:30 and then met up with friends for food and a couple of drinks, then I went home as I was tired. My work is reasonably intense so tiring.

In regards to my holiday, lets just say I had a very relaxing time with my gf.

I presume that when you are getting laid, you fantasise about Mutti eh.

Why is it a shame he believes that? Please make the case for continuing, mass, uncontrolled migration into European cities, leaving certain suburbs as uncomfortable, tense, crime-ridden places (e.g. Molenbeek in Brussels, Rinkenby in Stockholm). I hear a lot of emotional back and forth on these issues, but have never heard anyone make a logical case for the continuation of the current situation. And I am not being patronising or provocative - I genuinely want to know, and will give thought to your answer.

I take it you've never been to Yorkshire.

It's ludicrous isn't it. I married two Yorkshire men, lived up there for 33 years, & have family living there now. I'm back in the cosy southeast, but I also visit Yorkshire at least twice a year.
How does he think the Sikhs, Hindus and Asian Christians cope there?
